I HATE THAT POOP SLINGING GUARDIAN APE...

i can get by phase 1, most of the times he dont even do much damage to me.
but when he start running around headless i getting my *ss handed to me.
trying to make the 2 deflections in a row and then deflect again a 3rd time when he stab.
but somehow i have a hard time get the timing down on deflecting him.

guess i need to gid gud in my deflecting game. and here i thought i had a worked up a decent deflecting skill level.. but no, sekiro shadow die twice say other wice...

that said no matter how hard it is, how many hours i spend on this damn monkey.
i will never, ever cheat nor wish for an easy mode.
if this gonna take me days to beat this f*cking ape, then be it. the satisfaction gonna be so much better and more rewarding...

If you think the Ape is bad now, wait until you have to fight a phase 1 and 2 Guardian Ape at the same time in an even smaller fighting arena.

The 2nd ape felt really passive and had like no posture, it was moreso a headless phase2 worth 2 health bars.

i managed to beat him second try last night lol. all i did was holding O to run around like crazy and waiting for an opportunity

idk, 2nd phase just look at the sword, its slow and easy to parry.
once you parry the big swing he will be stunned for quite a bit even.

Good luck, OP. Yeah I think most players had a hard time with him the first time around unless you look up a guide or whatever. I was stuck on him for a few hours myself. The feeling of passing phase 1 for the first time only to realize there was a second phase is so hard to reproduce.

Best way for phase 2 harambe is to deflect his sword attack so he finish the combo with a downward sword attack. Deflect this and he will fall,giving u an opening to attack or u can use spear prosthetic on his head to pull the centipede for massive posture damage. Also bring pacifying agent for safety because his roar inflict terror. Other prosthetics like mist raven,flame vent, and umbrella works well against him. Good luck

Bait his downward sword attack, if you deflect he falls down. Or wait for his front jump attack in which he completely lies on his stomach, you can easily jump over it and get many hits. Rest of the time maintain some distance and please git gud in deflecting. Second phase is very easy. In first phase, he's very erratic.

beat him at last, last night.. at last i got the timing down to deflect him in the second phase.
deflected and used spear to stab him in the neck. really damn effective.
what a fight, took me several session of several hours over 2 days. what a great rewarding feeling to beat his *ss.
I did it,all alone, no cheats, no mods.. you cant beat that feeling of accomplishment.
i dont care that it took hours. and i know im gonna encounter bosses who are way harder than him.
it both scares me and fills me with joy, as im a fearless (at least try to be) shinobi...
