That would be a neat idea, it could give us some new abilities focused more on Samurai rather than ninjas
Isshin Ashina talks about Genichiro's master Tomoe who is supposed to be this badass chick that almost killed Isshin once. Would love to fight her in the dlc.

Obviously a nod to Tomoe Gozen. And I would pay anything to get DLC with her as a lead character.

As I posted elsewhere in the forum about this game:

For me the thing that came to mind because of the Budo/Japanese mythology/fantasy setting was The Tomoe Gozen saga which I first read decades ago and reread ever so often. The first book was revised by the author and is called The Disfavored Hero. I own both bound and Kindle editions. Great series but I do recommend getting the Disfavored Hero for the first book because the revisions were thorough and well done.

And of course that Tomoe Gozen was based on the historical figure.

I would rather they maybe encounter tomoe along their journey west, they still havent returned the dragon's blood, only started carrying it around
Nice didn't realise she was based of a real person.
The problem is that Tomoe is dead isn’t she?

Much of what we know about her has been lost to antiquity. Although she is seen in some drawings with a naginata, she was know to fight a katana. Legend says she was worth a thousand warriors. In the Heike Monogatari (I have versions by McCullough, Tyler, and Yoshikawa) it is said:

Of the two, Tomoe was especially beautiful, with white skin, long hair, and charming features. She was also a remarkably strong archer, and as a swordswoman she was a warrior worth a thousand, ready to confront a demon or god, mounted or on foot. She handled unbroken horses with superb skill;; she rode unscathed down perilous descents. Whenever battle was imminent, Yoshinaka sent her out as his first captain, equipped with strong armor, an oversized sword, and a mighty bow; and she performed more deeds of valor than any of his other warriors.

Isn't that the blade that Isshin had?

He did talk about Genichiro 'coming back' to get the second mortal blade and Isshin is dead by the time you have to face him again.

She was serving Takeru and there are two graves. One of which is Takeru.
Emma is talking about her while looking at the grave so it is safe to assume so.

Make the DLC a full story prequel.

Like, playing as isshin in the final battles for ashina, ending with you fighting tomoe as a final boss?

I don't recall her ever being mentioned as dead, just not around anymore. I may have missed a line or an implication in some item text, though.

Regardless, we have a precedent for time travel and memory funkiness with Hirata Estate so even if she is dead, well, maybe we kill her in the DLC. Or something. The Purification ending kind of writes a blank check for whatever the hell the writers want.

No I want the player character to be Tomoe.

I mean, we do know that Isshin fought her, and people that fight isshin tend to end up dead

That would be straight broken, remember that she basically mastered lightning abilities...
