some random tips:
Shuriken when he jumps for a bow shot (shurikins are meant to help counter jumps of all kinds)
Mikiri counter his thrusts
Jump sweeps then jump off his head before he recovers from the attack
Stay aggressive and keep the pressure on him dont let him breath and break his posture fast
- Big jump in the air is followed by a stab in phase 1, and a sweep in phase 2
- Basic overhead attack, sometimes followed by another one
- If he does a red symbol without jumping first, it's a stab
- If he jumps and its not over your head, he's gonna whip out his machine gun bow.
- And the one where he just does a big bow pull and shoots once.
In the third phase when you see him doing anything with lighting dodge to the sides, otherwise treat him just like previous phases.
One thing I found out is that if you get a rhythm going where you do two slashes, wait a quarter second, do two slashes, wait a quarter second, he'll try to do bow attacks during the delay and then your next attack will hit him out of it. Managed to do a lot of damage to him since those hits damage his vitality. If he doesn't do the bow attack then he's very likely to do the overhead attack which can be deflected and the timing will be easy to memorize since you're basically causing it to happen.
The second phase is identical except the overhead strike->thrust turns into overhead strike->sweep, so in phase two you do all the same motions except jump over the sweep rather than Mikiri counter.
So my legitimate advice is that you learn his patterns. I also suggest staying on the offensive, using shuriken combined with the attack-dash after throwing it to stay close to him so he can't easily use his bow. In his third phase, you can use lightning reversal to do massive damage to him and stun him so you can get in some extra attacks by jumping in the air then attacking him before you hit the ground once you get hit by the lightning.
He is a difficult boss to fight the first time through. You can jump on his head however when he does his sweep, and mikuri counter his stab, to get additional posture damage. Just build it up, be patient, and you'll beat him sooner or later.
There is no way to cheese him all the way. You can cheese him for the first 2 kills by doing double ichimonji all the way...but this takes a long time and doesn't work for the 3rd kill...also you will be very angry when you get killed in the 3rd stage because it will take soooo looong to cheese him in the first 2 kills using double ichimonji.
When u land, and tapped R1, u then take almost no electricity damage, and u end up deflecting the electricity back at genichiro. He takes pretty massive damage from this, and is easily defeated after several successions.

The last phase is all about dodging his lightning attacks, but his posture meter goes up very fast, since he has no armor in this phase.
He should be totally easy by that point.
