Easiest way Ive found to beat Headless Guardian Ape/Double Ape boss fight

I have not seen anyone talk about the easiest way to defeat the Headless Ape boss, specifically the second phase, where the Headless calls for back up and are fighting both apes at once. (Headless and with a head.)

I found that if you just spam firecrackers on the Guardian ape with a head, you can posture deathblow super quick. Leaving you to fight the Headless solo again, which at this point should be fairly easy. Let me know if this has helped, or if anyone has found an easier way.



P.S. What i love about this game is how daunting and impossible both Guardian Ape fights feel at first. Just to feel like a god fighting and defeating two at once! Truly is a journey into sharpening your skill, much like the "journey" of fighting games.

I fought him once and was like YES but then when he came back and I only had 2 healing gourds left I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, and to deal with the headless one the laziest safest method is to stay away (go in briefly then back up or he wont swap attacks ever) until he is going to do his sliding attack and jump and go ham on him. Having the liliac umbrella can let you get free hits off at the end of his screams in both versions of this fight.

For the first form of the original Ape boss fight in Sunken Valley use oil + fire instead of firecrackers as it stuns him much longer than even the extended + burns him.

if you use confetti the headless ape takes heaps more damage. also killing the brown ape gives you another revive.

Apparently when the headless ape does the wild vertical strike, you can deflect it and leave it very vulnerable... to a good few slashes, OR you can spear out a big fish from its neck...

Found the first stage harder than second, even if I died a lot of times to second face. Second part is more about doing perfect parry, it just helps a lot on that stage, plus he do big swings so you have that extra second to see when he swings towards you which is when you block.

Try to pull the brown ape as far away from the headless one as possible and time your firecrackers to stun it with when the headless ape makes some stationary move.

Then just get as much hits on it as you can, rinse and repeat until down and the headless by itself is a pushover at that point.

I just spammed shuriken from afar on the mate as soon as she pops and that got her vitality low enough to break posture and execute fairly quickly.

Also if you enter the from the forest side, you can jump down right on top of the headless ape while attacking, every time i did this it stunned him a bit and let me get just over a quarter of his first phase HP off right at the start.

This is brilliant!! I'm not good with 2 target boss fights, even in Dark Souls. Phase 1 was easy after figuring it out with Guardian Ape, but ape 2 was killing me.

I read this and tried it. I beat the boss first attempt. Ape 2 was dead within seconds of being summoned. Thanks a ton!!!!!

That fight is very easy if you just spam the ninja stars at the second ape. They shred her health really fast.
