Did I lock myself out the "secret" ending? SPOILERS

So i've been following the game in whatever a path it takes me and I beat bosses in a weird order.

For example, there's a guy in the temple where you fight the folding screen monkeys but I never saw him on this playthrough. I know for the secret ending you need to consume rice three times and get two key items or if not correct me if i'm wrong. I already beat the guardian ape and the double time guardian ape. Currently finishing up mibu village and then gonna tie up some loose ends. Can I start eating rice to get that secret ending now or did i miss something earlier before the apes?

You can still do it. The ending is accessible until you fight the Dragon in Fountainhead Palace.

Cool, I'll check this out. I wanna get this ending out the way now so I don't have to focus on quests ng+ lol
