How to unlock the Folding Screen Monkeys?

There's a zombie-like person sitting in front of the, whats supposed to be the boss, and I can't activate the boss. Any ideas?

Have you defeated the boss on the roof of Ashina Castle? Then spoken to Kuro and Emma a couple times?

He hasn't gotten into that area with the monkeys yet. There is a person you can interact with, but who doesn't speak to you "blocking" the way in.

Have to defeat the boss on the roof of Ashina Castle first and speak to the NPCs that will tell you what to do next. Then the person blocking the way will disappear.

You have to beat Genichiro and the zombie will be gone

I've done this, Emma and Kuro say the same things. Zombie man is still there?
