Where is patches?

Haven't gone too far in the game yet and is just wondering if there is an NPC similar to Patches the Spider in Bloodborne or Unbreakable patches in DS3.

Technically there's a man with an eye patch who isn't exactly an upstanding citizen
who may or may not be squatting behind that box of his.

So far I haven't had a npc doublecross me by pushing me off a ledge or something like that.

This isn't part of the Dark Souls series. There's no references to it whatsoever, even if you really try hard and claim the Buddhist reincarnation theme is a nod on the screwed up Dark Souls world where the souls would just inhabit new vessels etc, or the one mention of the word "ashen" near the end game counts for anything etc. Scrape the bottom of the barrel and claim the eyepatch merchant is similar to Patches if you want (he's not) though, by all means. Even the doctor guy, experimenting on his subjects, I wouldn't say has any resemblance to Iosefka from Bloodborne either, etc.

No Moonlight Sword, no Patches, no Giantdads, no nothing. Thankfully.

We don't need another uninspired Dark Souls fanwank like 3 was.

Hopefully any DLC that gets added (in any) doesn't remedy this, either.

Moonlight Sword and patches exist outside the Soulsborne series thou,Kingsfield had Moonlight Sword long before dark souls was a dream and i believe patches is also present in some form in armored core,i tought of them as a fromsoft thing more than a souls thing

The NPC that wants to become a carp is Patches equivalent. He is the only NPC Miyazaki apparently worked on and is the oddball.

Not really, he is the invisible bird, "You you, yes shiny"

Patches always wants to loot your corpse so he places you in harms way. Like pushing you down a cliff or locking you in some cage.

I do think its linked to bloodborne in some way, not the main series, but it does seem to take place maybe a bit before bloodborne in a different region

Bloodborne had patches, demons souls had patces, I think I heard somewhere Miyazaki puts him in his games because he likes patches as a character, dark souls has nothing to do with it.


Also, I get it, you hate DS3, now get your daddy mask and +10 chaos zweihander somewhere else and let us enjoy something you don't

Anayama the Peddler. This is new "Patches". Look at his clothes - it's made from many-many small patches.

Also, dragon boss (white dragon without legs... Say "hello" to Seath!) wield Sekiro version of Moonlight Greatsword.

I never noticed the patches on his close, maybe its a subtle nod instead of just an all out patches

The Divine Dragon is using the Seven Branched sword, a sword seen across many Japanese mythology themed games - it even existed in real life. It's not the Moonlight sword at all..

..but in accordance with this sort of thing, believe what you want to believe.

Also, the dragon is a traditional Japanese sky dragon, more like an eel than anything, also typically shown as being white. It's not a nod towards Seath, unless you also think the dragons from Terraria are also references to Seath I guess.

Your own narrative is the only narrative that matters! Remember that

It does do a big glowy green, and it does do the same wave shoot-out attacks, and the moonlight greatsword does change from game to game, but this is probably one of those "maybe until further confirmation" things

Possibly, but don't hold your breath, this is Miyazaki we're talking about. You'll just get hints and maybe's at most, lol. Remember the Pendant?
