Its just corrupted ripp
backup your corrupted save then delete the whole sekiro folder under C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming, restart steam and check game integrity, should download your latest save from the cloud, if thats corrupted aswell then you might wanna try to reinstall and start a new game then replace the new save file with the savefile that you made a backup previously

I had the game crash and corrupt my save. I couldn't get it back so I used mods to cheat my way back to where I was. Now after every game session I make sure to back up my saves. It really sucks.

Just use gamesave manager, creates a backup every x minutes

Hey there,

You don't have anything in your roaming folder at all? That's so odd. Many programs and games save information there. The save file should say something like S0000.sl2.

Anyways, I was going to reach out and ask if you would be willing to send over your save file so we can forward it up to be investigated. We are looking into the potential causes of this corruption. However, what Toni suggested is a pretty good thing to try first just to see if it will load your back-up from the cloud.

Also, make sure you have hidden folders enabled otherwise you won't be able to see that AppData area at all in the first place.

Hang on silly me, didn't know I had to go onto the previous folder and check show hidden. I'll be with an answer in a moment. Can Sekiro have multiple save files? I've just started again and haven't saved yet :P

I don't think so, as far as i know sekiro is using the same save system as any previous fromsoft title,.

It doesn't matter how many times you start a new game all data gets written into a single file.

If you started over you should see 2 save options when pressing "Load Game"

Yeah, I got the save file, copied into a different folder, deleted the Sekiro folder, verified and no the file is still corrupt :C

Ah, yeah if you are starting over it most likely overwrote your original save. As far as I'm aware you can only have one save file. If you still have the corrupted save though could you please upload it to something like Google Drive or Dropbox and share that over? That way we can send it up.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
There is a fix that is known to work in some cases but it requires working with a hexeditor and editing checksums.

This is obviously not recommended and might kill your savefile so create a backup beforehand...

Might worth a shot tho
