Sekiro Eaten by Giant Snake takes you to another area

After I solved the kite puzzle, I naturally went for the snake kill, though that first time i was busy taking a video for my friend, and missed the second red dot. What end up happening is that you get eaten by the snake. When your character reappears, it’s in an area I haven’t been to before, where enemies killed me quickly. Like they were enemies on clouds that could hide in walls. I ended up respawing in the previous idol and got the snake kill the second time. But I can’t go back to that area? Anybody else know where that area is?

Sounds like you end up in the cave at the bottom of the sunken valley!

That is a very mild spoiler. It did not happen in my playthrough because you are supposed to kill the snake, not get eaten by it (and you can reach that cave by other means).
