Shadowrush or Emma's Medicine: Potency
Trying to decide which is better. I've been saving skill points and can't decide which is better. Please share your opinion on what is best. I not very skilled at this game and need all the skills I can get.

just go with Potency. Shadowrush isnt really a useful combat art IMO, though having literally no experience in boss fights with is might be a factor. Whirlwind Slash, High Monk, and Ichimonji are the only ones Ive ever used

Mortal Draw is also a good one.
I’d probably say go for the effective health as well. Shadowrush isn’t a combat art I use that often.

Costs way too much for my liking. I dont really see myself using it anytime soon, especially considering Ichimonji is such a life saver for attempting no damage Isshin

It still works when you’re out of emblems, it just loses some range and a bit of damage.

You can also use the Ceremonial Tanto to get more emblems.

I would also recommend the potency. Shadowrush is a situational combat art, and needs practice to be effective, and even then I would usually use something else instead. I just did not find it that good. Better healing is always useful, unless you are good enough to not get hit, but at that point you would not need to ask. If you are not very skilled as you say, I doubt you would get much out of shadowrush anyways, but I bet you will heal quite a lot. So, just do the math as to what is more useful to you.

It also loses a bit of damage, but I agree its still pretty good without emblems.

Shadowrush is actually kind of cheesy. It can be used to stunlock bosses as long as your spirit emblems last.

How so? If you fail a deflection other than his push before his thrust in phase 1 you've already failed, so posture isn't a concern at all. And Mortal Draw can stagger just as well if not better than Ichimonji if that's what you're concerned about.

I dont like cheesing though, excepy Guardian Ape phase 1 with firecracker + flame vent stunlock.

I use Ichimonji when Genichiro does the Mortal Blade. "Just dodge it lol" yeah sure dodging it is easier, but after every attempt I did to no damage NG+7 Isshin, I found a lot of things that actually work, like forward stepdodge the last slash of Genichiro's wombo combo (you dont get the free Mikiri, but you get a lot of undeflected attacks in), and using Ichimonji to stun both of them out of Mortal Blade (Geni) and that charged AOE slash Isshin does (which is usually countered by firecrackers by some youtubers, or just by simply dodging which I cant). It was never a matter of posture, its just for the stun.

I havent really used Mortal Draw, but if it goes off faster than Ichimonji to stun Isshin, then maybe I could incorporate it in my attempts.

I either jump on his head to dodge it, or just parry it. Though the first time around, I ran faaaaaar away from it, and that worked too.

Who use cheese combat art tactics on challange runs?

Cant remember the last run i used any really effektive combat art on a boss.

Focus on deflect and counter is more fun to me. You need to stay focused longer because you dont build their osture so fast?

OP wasn't talking about a challenge run, so not where where this came from.

And I don't really like using cheesy tactics, either. I was just noting that Shadowrush can be quite powerful.

Still undecided but figured that with Shadowrush I should be able to grab more prayer beads and healing gourds which would produce more skill points.
