I my vid you see all of his moves you can use to punish him.

If you can beat phase 1 you can do phase 2 too. Just stay out of the poison.
And when he does his smoke bomb stay calm and block. Often he will just do his anti heal s**t as soon you hear his stupid sound he makes when doing it, jump back.
1. When he does his jump attack, usually after throwing 2 shurikens, you can get a couple solid free hits in. Just run around to his side to dodge the jump slam attack.
2. When he throws his green anti healing bomb he is completely open to attack. If you catch him early enough in the move it actually stops him from throwing it altogether.
3. Whenever he hits you with his elbow followed by sword slash he always, always follows up with firecrackers. This is your chance to run behind him (ideally from his left side as his next attack starts from his right side) and you will get another couple free hits in.
It's definitely doable and it's not too bad once you get a rhythm down. Think it was probably about 8-10 tries for me.
In this footage i did fight him very slowly. So he should did all of his movesets. Perhaps you could learn one or two things by watching this.

Google the git gud guide video for this boss to see someone doing this. it's pretty easy after a few tries.
Not as bad as it seems at first.
Owl 1st try - Died once almost right away
Owl 2nd try - Almost killed him once
Owl 3rd try - . . . I killed him once and got him down to 30% at second stage and he killed me twice there . . . I tilded hard af.
Owl fights about the same on both stages and the fight is kind of dull as he have only 3 moves (4 maybe) and I can dodge everything about the same . . . but he can stun-lock kill and fast if I fail to dodge . . . battle is long af and boring as I do the same thing over and over and over.
Not gonna lie. Most DS bosses are way more repetative than any sekiro fight. 🤗 owl is fun if you Party.
But i used much dodge in my first playthrough too.
I know you dont wanna hear that but you play "wrong" 😁
If you parry, his posture goes down fast when you only take away a little bit of health.
Look my video i posted above.
Ds bosses are meant to kill with evade and hit. Sekiro bosses not really 🤗
Good luck with him.
Owl is just a bigger and fat version of the normal enemies, with more range, stun-lock and a fck ton of health making the fight unnecessarily long as it becomes a repetitive fight for 25min or more.
