On NG+ and I am unable to get a blood sample to cure dragon rot

So, I started NG+, everything is going smoothly. I don't die until I get to the Sunken Valley. At this point, Emma, who I had talked to about Dragonrot and she said she needed a sample, is up in Kuro's room. I only have like a small amount of dragonrot. Unseen Aid has been at 15% since I got it. I guess maybe I need to die more in order to get more NPC's coughing? I am at the mob merchant outside the cave to the serpent and he is making a cough noise but there is no option to gather a blood sample. I have like 20+ dragon blood droplets. Is this a bug or do I just need to die more and make the infection worse?

Now that I am thinking about it, the dragonrot really doesn't bother me. The droplets can come in handy if you need a revive. I never go into a fight a lot of money or like my level bar half or more. I guess it really doesn't matter.... But I am curious if anyone has any ideas or has experienced this when playing NG+ or higher?

When I went back to her, her son was there and she was dead. So, I couldn't get the sample from her like I did on my first playthrough. What item lets you see who has dragonrot?

Oh, NIBBIE! I feel like a derp derp. I never bothered to read those things. So, the sculptor is the only one who has dragonrot according to my inventory, but it still effects me which sucks...I can't cure him...not that I know of. Thanks dude.
