The Demon of Hatred is literally the worst boss in any game ever!!
Seriously, what the hell? God know how many tries I went through. This boss is such a piece of♥♥♥♥♥♥to fight that I can't even believe it's in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. It literally goes against everything you've been learning for the entirety of the playthrough. It took me several damn hours of the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥over and over to beat this boss, and you know what, so did Sword Saint Isshin, but the difference with him was that his fight actually felt fair and it was fun to battle him and get a hang of each stage. Can't say the same for the disgrace of a ♥♥♥♥ng boss that is the Demon of Hatred. Why? Who was sniffing glue in FromSoftware's HQ and drew this scraggly flaming ♥♥♥♥♥ and thought "Oh hell yeah, this troll, red wig looking♥♥♥♥♥demon with♥♥♥♥♥♥moves will make such a good addition to the cast of bosses?

The only redeeming factor is the memory item and 2 Lapis Lazuli at the end which in no way fully compensates for the amount of pure suffering and agony required to surmount this terribly designed boss. Don't get me wrong, I like hard bosses, I like a good challenge, but I don't like fighting bosses with cheesy♥♥♥♥♥attacks that are basically scripted to hit and deal unbelievable ♥♥♥♥o-level damage. ♥♥♥♥ that! Especially that one move where he lights a strip of ground on fire! Un-♥♥♥♥ing-dodgeable.

Skipping this♥♥♥♥♥♥in New Game Plus. Never again, ♥♥♥♥♥ Christ.

Must have taken me about 3 or more hours on my first playtrough. And 5 minutes on my second playtrough. Had to learn alot about him. Took me a while to figure him out.

You dont need a special shinobi tool or any fancy skills to beat him. Knowing when to jump, deflect or how to make good use of your grappling hook (Or whatever it is called again) at the right time pays off.

Look up what claw gripping is. Being able to fight him without locking on made this fight much more comfortable for me.

I wish i could make a good video. I recommmend watching a speedrun and see how someone really good at the game handles him. That could help and save you hours of trial and error. Dont be like me.

Nothing in this game is unfair or impossible. There are no cheesy attacks. Only bad positioning made by the player. There are already some really good strategys shared among players.

Please dont give up.
Only 3? You are a genius. Even with the videos show nme how to use fire umbrella and the whistle it also took me 2nights to finish him. So you know what, I understand this guy.

Bla bla bla another guy whining about being bad at games. Christ make some original posts already.

Lol, this has nothing to do with being bad and everything to do with bad game design; it's almost like any time someone complains about a boss it must be because they're bad and not because the actual boss has problems.

"Scripted to hit" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Hey, have you heard of exaggeration? It's not scripted, but it might as well bloody be.

In the meantime, did you ever consider using the fire-proof umbrella, or the "Malcontent" upgrade for the Finger Whistle? And there's no "Undodgeable attacks". Even his huge AOE attacks can be avoided. I know because I did. I beat him a few times without cheesing him off the map like others do. He's perfectly beatable.

Even then the wonky ass hitboxes for multiple attacks like his running charge will still get you because this boss is inherently designed like ♥♥♥♥ and programmed like ♥♥♥♥. FYI, I didn't cheese him either and he was ass to fight. Oh yeah, and there is no real cheese for this boss because the only measures you can take just make the fight a little less sucky. And the damn whistle only works 3 times anyway, it's effects on the fight are negligible.

Everything in the Demon of Hatred fight can be countered or avoided. The fire attack you're talking about requires you to sprint to the side in either direction then jump as it hits.

Yes, I know, but even then it still sometimes hits you because of the wonky ass hitboxes. Souls games are known for having some serious hitbox gore at certain times and the Demon of Hatred is the epitome of it in Sekiro. His charge attack where he dashes mad fast is also annoying because I know damn well I was off to the side of his path when he charged and yet I still got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by the generous ass hitboxes he gets.

Dude you threw a tantrum in your original post. You didn't explain what the actual issue is at all. You didn't make a case that it's bad game design. What do you expect people to think?

Calm down and actually type out the issue in the first place without scheeching on the floorand we can all skip the parts of the thread where everyone gives you ♥♥♥♥ and move on to.maybe helping you.

Again, jumping to the side will avoid his charge attack without fail. I maintain that there is nothing wrong with the hitboxes in this fight, the only questionable ones I noticed at all in multiple playthroughs were a few of the grab attacks in other fights, and even those can be consistently avoided with the right positioning. I feel like you're being more than a little hyperbolic in your complaints, I'm awful at action games and even I didn't have too much trouble with Demon of Hatred after the initial struggle to learn his moveset.

He is very fair and not to hard in term of execution. Unlike the 2nd Owl he also gives you plenty of opportunities to hit him. It's pretty much non stop actually.

He is a guest from DS and a bit out of place in Sekiro but very fun.

Yet the 2nd version of Owl actually dies more quickly than Demon of Hatred.

I'm terrible at video games, well below average at damn near every single one (despite spending most of my time playing them). And it took me 3-4 hours to kill it using no prosthetics and no divine confetti. Killing it in 3 hours hardly makes someone a genius.

Maybe on the first playthrough. Starting around NG+2-3 Owl's posture regenerates so fast in both forms that you've got to take him down to around 60-70% vitality before you can even start building his posture bar. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ takes forever to kill.

Never fought him in a 1st playthrough and like the post above say, he is very long to take down in NG+ with Demon bell. The demon of hatred can be killed pretty quickly if you know what you are doing even at NG+3 + Demon Bell.

Doesnt matter, the real talent is being able to learn from failure and get better, it's what separates you from the quitters. The quitters are the worst gamers and should just watch a movie or read a book instead.

he's actually insanely easy once u understand him just constantly sprint at him and stay to his right use the fire umbrella to block his flame hand attack combo and when he jumps away, if u go to sprint at him he will always throw out a firewall of fireballs that do huge damage so bait them out by running into him then quickly running back soon as u see his wind up hes really simple
Brechnor 2 Mei 2019 @ 5:38am
OP obviously never saw the Capra Demon then, ha ha ha.
Demon of hatred is the same as any boss.
Learn how to parry, dodge or block his attacks and he basically can't hurt you any more.

I've killed both of them 5-7 times now and Owl Father ALWAYS dies faster. The only time it might have been close was with the demon bell active because then you are actually right about his vitality being reduced being a requirement to get his posture.

If you play the game correctly regular posture regen is pretty much negligible. It simply won't kick in most of the time anyway.
