His 3rd phase is the most easiest one because of the lightning strikes. One thing to remember is to delay your jumps just a little bit after the red font pops up.
Another important thing in this phase is to be VERY aggressive and not giving him a break, so stay close to him and keep hitting. Blocking his lightning will be very easy with some training, so don't worry, you will surely beat him soon. Good Luck!
If you can't jump the lightning, you can use the feather prosthetic, the upgraded the version allows you to reverse the lightning without taking any damage, the normal can also do so but require some good timing

Alright, but isn't that what you do for every boss and Enemy in Sekiro?
Sekiro rewards Doom-style (float like a butterfly, sting like a bee) agression.

Sure, you always have to be atleast a bit aggressive in this game, but with Genichiro(Way of Tomoe), you have to be especially aggressive. If you do it right and deny him any break, he won't have the chance to start one of his combos that could one-hit you if you aren't in NG+.
A good chance to get a couple of hits in is, when he starts running around you in circles, because then he isn't blocking and it wil hit him right out of his attack.

I wish that was true. There are a few bosses that are the opposite though(ape and monk).

If you, like me, don't have quick reflexes to deal with the reflect lightning BS, just quickly 2x-3x dodge to your right when he casts any kind of lightning. He won't be able to hit you.

Unlike the others say, the third phase is by far the hardest for those without quick reflexes. I was incredibly happy when I finally beat this moron on my 20th-30th try which took over 2 weeks, I tried him for 2-4 times per day until I felt physically exausted. (Gyobu took 3 tries, Butterfly 3 tries, Bull 2 tries, little ♥♥♥♥♥ like Juzou or Shinobi Hunter gone 1st try).

When I beat him... When I was in 3rd phase with Lightning, I had like 1/3 of health and no healing stuff! So I prefered to avoid lightning as despite having this reversal skill, it takes some health anyway! And it was actually really easy to avoid...

Ah, I get it. Thx. 👍
Dash under him to avoid the lightning. Lightning reversal isn't hard though-it's not about reflexes it's about timing.
So, I took a break from Sekiro to mod FO4 a little bit for almost a week.
Today, I beat Genichiro on my first try on the day.
Beat his first two phases with 4 gourds to spare.
When he switched to his lightning phase I just rushed him and hoped for the best.
When he used his lightning, I used the whirlwind slash ability and kept dodging his lightning with that ability.
Victory.
Yes. The sweet relief of beating a seemingly impossible boss is such a good feeling.
Now I've got a sweet new sword and ninjutsu skills too. :D

If an enemy is using lightning attacks just jump, block the attack mid-air and then press attack once your sword is charged with lighting. It's not hard to do, and it will be useful later in the game.

Part of that is true and part of it isn't. The part that's false is saying its easy but it is certainly useful later in the game.
