Genichiro Ashina: I don't want to do this!
I have watched so many streamers and youtubers go up against this guy for hours upon hours (one guy well over 5 hours before he realized he needed to level up his stats). He utterly crushes his opponents while gamers pray their muscle memory catches up in time to somehow save them and just freaking end the fight before a new day circles around. I'm about to face him so gawd help me.

I defeated him on my 2nd attempt of my first playthrough and I am not a good player.

Just pressure him.

This boss is where you have to either embrace the Deflect mechanic, or experience utter annihilation. It is a great fight, and not that hard once you get used to it.

I think I may actually take a mild break from this boss and game. It's been a ridiculously long time since I used a controller for this length of time and my hand / arm muscles (both?) are feeling spastastically-spazzy. I get one life of his two (haha!) maybe every other attempt, and I've got a good build for him but I think the OCD is just going to have to rest. I actually have Ichimonji: Double, High Monk, and a bunch of other useful skills as well as 4 prayer bead necklaces & 7 uses of the gourd ... but fatigue is setting in on the player after so many hours in (technically this is a second start playthrough for better build purposes). Thanks for the encouragement and I HATE you @Cool (well done, but *you bastard!* xD )). And @Anderson, yeah, it's because of how unreliable my deflects are right now that I can tell my hands needs a rest, lol. The brain is telling me it's spamming the L1 bumper far faster than the hand is keeping up with.

You should always heed the advice of Isshin-sama: "Hesitation is Defeat".

This is especially true with Genichiro-sama, you need to keep the pressure up!
Don't back away, always stay close, deflect all his blows and keep attacking him relentlessly.

In my experience he did the most damage if I got away from him to heal, because then he draws his bow and it hits you hard.
If you are especially unlucky, the arrow will break your posture and he will swiftly attack you with his sword, dealing a big amount of damage.

Also, don't be intimidated by his last phase, it is in my opinion the easist part of the fight. You just keep attacking him, especially when he tries to run around you and deflect his lightning. This will get his posture up in no time.

If you don't give up and learn from your mistakes, you will defeat him eventually, he is a strong opponent, so give your best.

Good Luck! :CrossedBlades:

yeah... those skills you're talking about? if you don't know exactly what you're doing, they'll get you killed. always focus on the basics, focus on deflection. If you can get a handle on his timing you can win. if you don't know for certain you can land a skill AND not get punished afterwards, then don't even think about touching them, it'll just lead to preventable deaths.

Genichiro is just a test to see whether you can press right mouse button before the enemy attacks or not. You can defeat him by standing in one place ( jumping during third phase ) and pressing lmb and rmb.

You can do it! A very fun challenge. Far from the most difficult boss in the game.
Cookie 2019 年 6 月 25 日 上午 9:11
He is a skill-check for players. Once you get hang of Defletions and remember his patters he is a pushover.
Morhem 2019 年 6 月 25 日 下午 12:07
Also, is it just me, or final boss is literally the strongest boss in darksekirobloodsouls? And is WAY, WAAAAY over difficulty level of the entire game?

Might be just me thou, because I cant possibly learn his moveset if I die to Genichiro 8 times out of ten.

GENICHIRO YOU CRUSTY F**K, COULD YOU JUST DIE ALREADY??

Having to fight him EVERY TIME before final boss is severe overkill imo.

Also, what's his (and final boss's) thing with circling you so hard, camera tracking cant catch up? Am I playing as ninja, or a skeleton from DS1, getting cirle-backstabbed?

EDIT: Main battle agains Genichiro was challenging, but really fun. Can't say that about the next encounter.

Mortal Blade Genichiro can be killed within 30 seconds by deflecting his first couple attacks and hitting him several times mid-animation.

That circling bit is utter bs. Saint doesnt even come close to Sekiro running speed. If anything, you should be backstabbing him.

you should steamroll p1 since its basically the same fight again. use ichimonji to punish his mortal draw, deflect his other attacks, jump over the sweep and dont get greedy.
SLY 2019 年 6 月 25 日 下午 3:40
Dodge, deflect and jump. Three move elements what you need to win this fight.

Oh you sweet soul...
Genichiro is one of the easier ones. Couple of deaths is all it takes. His attacks are well telegraphed and predictable. Its the bow that causes most issues, but even that is easily deflected.

The key is staying on the offensive. Just keep spaming him until he does a deflect, deflect whatever his retaliation is, back on the offensive.

Just want to say thanks for all the comments guys. Not saying goodbye to Sekiro, absolutely coming back, but for those checking my steam profile, I did put in 68 hours over the course of 2 weeks into the game and just realized, "Y'know, I think I need a break!"

On a side note, somewhat sad to hear that there may not be any DLC for this game as I absolutely loved FromSoftware's take on Medieval Japan and the combat system; Not overly enthused by Elden Ring or such but mostly because I've come to truly dislike GRRM, so will wait on the actual gameplay footage).

Lates!
Darthzz 2019 年 6 月 26 日 上午 6:17
Genichiro IMO is really hard to learn but easy to master. First attempts took me like 35+ tries, then fighting him later I beat him first try easily.
