To give a piece or two of basic advice, Wolf (like all of the starters) is a hybrid monster, so it uses both magic and physical attacks. I would generally recommend not using points on buff moves on your DPS monster because it should be busy attacking, not spending time buffing. Instead, that's what your other monsters are for:
Healer to buff and heal
Support to Buff / Debuff / Build Combo / etc
DPS to do damage
Therefore, if you focus your skill points on whoever your DPS is (like Wolf) on passives which increase its overall strength, you will see a significant boost when it's properly-supported by your other monsters.
