on a side point, is there anything special about the moon sword?

But to answer your question what's special about the [Moon Sword] is that is has JUST attack and magic in higher amounts compared to other weapons which might have some secondary property (like crit or mana regen etc). So it's good for monsters who just want higher damage stats, but not building for crit.
