how to explore the full underworld?

i have all teh visible map, i have maxed my level, i have all the monster journal complete...
all that's missing is a bit of the underworld, there's a corridor that ends in a dead end, but the map is telling me there's more to this corridor... i've tried breking the wall, i've tried finding an invisible path, i've tried going from the left!... nothing works. how does one complete this dreaded map?

Go to the area where you can raise and lower the huge pillar. Raise it all the way up, then try approaching this area from the left side.
