Advice for Deep Spiked Pit

Hey there! Having a blast working my way through this game. Towards the bottom/southern portion of the Ancient Woods, there's a deep, spiked pit that one must drop down without touching the sides. After a portion, it twists further to the right. Any advice? I've tried using a mid-air jump to course correct, and using the Levitate ability to try and transverse the twist but I've grown frustrated. Is this just an exceptionally challenging bit of exploration, or is there a trick I'm missing?

Additionally, there's a set of doors in Ancient Woods, one with a switch on each side, and I've no idea how to get to the switch on the other side. I'll try and get a screenshot as that's probably too vague.

Oftentimes when it comes to switches, it usually means it's just a "convenience way from A to B", meaning you'd open each side FROM each side. However, if you want, this map / treasure guide is pretty decent:
