No worries man, keeper battles are indeed quite doable, so don’t sell yourself short. Likely you just need to improve your strategy with your team of three and you’ll do fine.

I’m going to be AFK for a little, but feel free to hit me up for discussing strategy, and/or on Discord—lotta helpful people there https://discord.gg/8KrG6y
They need to just remove the half healing and damage thing in keeper duels, and make it like a regular fight, but vs 6 monsters. That would fix it.
That would not fix it. They tuned it down because otherwise things would be completely imbalanced, Moi Rai made it how it is for a reason. Not only myself, but others could tell you that these battles are indeed winnable. The issue is more likely that you need a better team strategy. I would highly recommend workshopping with people (such as on Discord) to improve. Merely stating that things are “too hard” when real solutions exist isn’t as productive.
And I can understand your feelings regarding that, however, I would claim that "deep theorycrafting" is not necessary--just basic teambuilding strategy. Indeed, the game's baseline level is more challenging than Pokemon (as stated by the developer):
Even still, discussion and strategizing is being offered: I (and others) would be quite happy to help.
In my second save I managed to defeat the Frog dude with the Phoenix as my main, don't know how to be honest, but well, it's not impossible, it's just very hard.
The other keeper duels are fine, but the first one needs to be toned down. His monsters were using higher level attacks than mine, and quite obviously had considerably higher stats that weren't accurately defined by "level". They seemed to never run out of mana, ever, and were able to keep spamming high level attacks/spells as if mana pool/regen was not an issue. I had a level 11 golem, and it got absolutely destroyed in like 3 attacks, through the shields. Full shield was shredded in 1 hit, then got 2 shotted after the shield was gone. Sorry, but that's broken as hell. No other fight in the game ever shredded a golem like that. Not one. The fight was so busted OP, I assumed it was one of those fights that you were scripted to lose.
All the keeper duels after that are easy, because you can go get sun palace mobs like the mantis and psycho elephant mages, which are 2 of the best monsters in the game, IMHO.
My default party was Golem or Snail + Psycho Elephant + Mantis, and you were pretty much unstoppable once those monsters were leveled up into the 20+ range. If I could redo the first keeper duel, with levels scaled up to 20, and me having Golem + Psycho Elephant + Mantis, he would have gotten demolished, without me losing one monster. The mantis would have been OHKOing stuff after getting about 15+ charge stacks after 1 kill, which is exactly what happened in all the later keeper duels.
It also makes little sense story-wise how I stomped a champion that made a keeper wet his pants, only to have weeing willie stomp me with his own mobs (which are higher level than the champion?!?) 5 minutes later. IIRC, the duel comes right after beating the minotaur-like champion in the caves, without a new area/progression to level up further, so the sudden difficulty spike was absolutely jarring.
Every other keeper duel past Will's is easy. Because you don't have hardly any build options at lower levels. It's quite literally the hardest fight in the game, why should that be thrown in this early on? It has the difficulty of a fight you're supposed to lose for storyline purposes, but can possibly win with some sorta gimmick.
I redid the Will fight on a new save file, got to level 14, and still couldn't beat it. I had no problems beating any of the consecutive keeper duels. In fact, I rarely lost a single monster against any of the post-Will keeper duels.
And yet Weeing Willie's mobs were roflstomping me by spamming lvl 3 poison + weakness attacks, as though they had infinite mana (or overgeared for mana replenishment).
"Room to improve." LOL. Funny, since *I* was roflstomping the mobs including all the champions up to that point, and suddenly I get stomped by the guy who wet his pants and ran from the champion I just stomped. Again, very jarring in terms of difficulty spike, and completely nonsensical story-wise. Is there supposed to be a moral lesson here? "See Willie, even though your weeing made you run back home to change your pants, you're not worthless since you stomped the guy who stomped the champion that made you wet your pants!"
Hey, but what do we know, it's your game; crimson and I are just telling you how a) jarring the difficulty spike is, b) how un-fun the keeper battles are right now, and c) how nonsensical the difficulty spike is in the context of the story.
If you got a guaranteed setup to beat Will's keeper duel with monsters and items only available up to that point, post it.
