FIXED! Update 34055 Breaks the Game, Crashes on every start of a match/campaign
Update: 18.12.2019 9 pm MET : New Hotfix came out, problem seems fixed both campaign and random matches work again

Date 17.12.2019
Great Work! Age of Empires II DE became unplayable.

With Update 34055 whenever i start a Campaign mission or a random match (or any kind of match) the game loads until the very moment where the black screen would turn into the map (in random games i already get to hear the sound of captured sheep) the game crashes, 7 tries on Campaigns, 4 on random games, always same result.

System is Win 7, with a mediocre PC, good enough for 4 vs 4 multiplayer matches without lacks on medium settings

After 1 Day and...400+ Reactions here is a a general Infor for ALL

The Problem is that the Patch deletes Support for Windows 7, so everyone with Win 7 is affected.

Devs did pin this post and also claimed that this was NOT intentional and is NOT a try to force People on Win 10 (Microsofts's Win 7 support is offcially ceased by january)
The Developers ask to not spread the narrative, that this is a measure to get people off Windows 7, and while i am not fully conviced we should all at least respect their request.

No information about potential Date/time for a fix are aviable yet (or at least i didnt saw a Dev mention one yet)

I don't think you can roll back but anyway even if you manage to do it you will not be able to play online anymore ..

Same problem... win7x64. It is definetly the new patch, it ran fine up until now.
You can even load a map in scenario editor, but when you try to place units it crashes. (D3D11.dll). A hotfix would be appreciated...

Game crashes constantly after new update
After is start a new match the game crashes every time.
I have windows 7 and people with newer systems don´t have the issue.
Before the update the game worked perfectly.

After the new patch my game doesnt launch.
I press play, it "launches" but then stops and nothing happpens. The game isnt visible in taskmanager. I refreshed files, opened closed steam, restarted computer. gg

Maybe the game realised that your avatar is a picture of hitler as child and confirmed that you are an idiot

I suggest verifying game files just in case something didn't update correctly.

there's no fixing to that issue because most probably it's a coding error so unless you're a programmer i don't think you'll manage to get something out of it

Probably you should get Win98 - it runs fine

same problem here, since the update the game doesn't work anymore

I start it, no matter if I load a savegame or start a new one, after a few seconds "AoE II DE doesn't work anymore" and the game will be closed.
