Game crashes at launch

Game crashes after 5 sec, can anyone please guide to fix this issue.

Mine does as well. If I spam clicks to get past the intro cutscene I can get into the game sometimes

thanks for the report. Sometimes this can be caused by overlays, please disable them. Sometimes crashes can be caused by unofficial mods, however if you have all mods disabled and the issue continues, then for a proper investigation of a crash like this we would need a minidump file.
Minidumps can be found in “C:\Users\USER\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\logs” will have date-time format, something like “AoE2DESteam-51577-2021.10.07-10.11.24.mdmp”, it should be at end of the folder.

Hi Crhistheco,

This has worked (tentatively), thank you! I will post the instructions here for others. I had to do both of these steps.

1) Delete mods are not installed in the Steam folder, but in the Users folder in Windows 10.

Navigate into C:\Users\yourusername\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\
Find two folders with a lot of numbers.
Click through both of them, and find the mods folder and then the subscribed folder.
Delete all folders inside.
Try to start the game.

2) Unsubscribe from mods here:
