tip for clean install?

i cant install any mods and a player in game told me to do clean install. any tip or idea for this please? which folders or files should i delete?

You just clear out the Steam App folder where AoE2 is located. Steam used to have a delete local content, but removed that and replaced it with something else that doesn't all the time. Manually deleting the files is best. Maybe even reboot your computer after you do it just to be sure.
