Multiplayer problem. Aways getting disconnected after 4-5 minutes.
I tried 3 games in that match making system, in every single one of them the game randomly disconnects with 5 minutes playing, (now I have 3 defeats, lel)

And yes, my connection is working perfectly fine, I don't even get the usual "only steam client random disconnect", so what can I do? (if there is anything I can do).

I'm really disheartened, I hyped this game way too much believing I would finally be able to play it online (because p2p was terrible on hd, and they said we would have servers on de...)

EDIT1: I noticed that i can't get in the lobby anymore every time that happens (That "trying to connect" message).
I need to restart the game so I can enter the lobby again (just so I wait 5 minutes in the queve to be able to play for 5 minutes before I get kicked by the server xD)

EDIT2: Yes, I tested on the new patches, still nothing changed. I am 0/8 on the ranked ladder. Glorious xD

EDIT3: Yes, I tested most "fixes" in the book. Connecting the pc directly in the cable, changing routers, disabling firewall/antivirus, QoS/etc router settings, etc. Absolutely no change, aways getting kicked out of the game on 4-5 minutes mark :c

EDIT4: I actually managed to finish a match by using a free vpn, and for now that seems to be the only known temporary workaround for that issue (Worked for me, I don't know about everyone else...)

There's no reason not to buy a full priced game from the publisher of a game which literally hasn't worked for 3+ months (even longer for beta players) and in which both the developers and publisher ignores you if you ask for a refund for the mentioned game which doesn't work, with no forseeable fix in sight?

I'm sure you read my message but I doubt you understood it. Hopefully spoon-feeding it to you helped.

Sure. I messaged 3 developers on your Discord server about a refund but none of them replied, same with your publisher. Can you help with that?

I feel like it's somehow related to a discussion thread about the game not working for 3+ months.

In order to help fixing the issus of the game, i will provide a report of my game crash minutes ago.

I was playing a ranked 1v1 match on the map golden pit.
The game was already a bit laggy during the intro video when loading the game (sound and video lagged slightly)

The match started just normal.
I did a scout rush build, so I tried to add a stable as soon as i hit Feudal age.
That's when the problems started:

- I orderd villagers to build the stable via hotkeys.
- Instead of the usual see-though outline of the stable, i did not see the building i wanted to place. (mouse cursor changed to the build-symbol, though)
- I repeated this several times with the same result.
- when i tried to place the "invisible building" the foundation showed up and my villagers started building.
- Next thing I wanted to get the farming upgrade - but MY MILL WAS GONE! (or invisible, too).
- I could not investigate further, because at that moment the game crashed back to desktop.

Please fix this asap, this is the second time this kind of crash happens to me in 38 matches played. That's 5%!

yeah this is not what this thread is about. but to be honest the game has been a mess recently, units ignores commands, people crashing (not the same issue as this thread) matchmaking freezing for all players.... and few more here and there. the game felt much stable on release otherwise than the disconnect issue that has been there since the start. actually since BETA.

Literally ghosted on the same page. That should give everyone else reading this thread an idea of how little the developers care about shipping an unplayable, broken game to their paying customers, and based on the 4 (5?) months it's been released, how little effort they've put into fixing it. So greedy that they can't even refund people who not only paid for the broken game, but spent several hours of their day collecting disconnect game logs (even in AoE1) so they could fix the issue, which newsflash, they didn't do.

I've opened another ticket with Steam now with screenshots of both Xbox customer support and me being ignored by the developers, hopefully something will happen from that, otherwise i'll just get Ori and the Will of Wisps for free as my personal refund (and the next AoE game as compensation for hours of wasted time).

If you're in the same boat, I highly recommend you to try and refund the game on Steam while explaining the issue about constantly disconnecting. Include a link to this thread, that way they can see that the developers have acknowledged the issue and that it's existed since the game was released . When (if?) Steam says no, include screenshot(s) of you asking the developers about a refund.

If enough people do that, at least Steam will see that it's a major issue. And it doesn't hurt you personally as you can just buy the game again after they fix the disconnecting (if they even fix it at all) if you wish. And remember, the reason why the gaming industry is in such a terrible state today is because publishers and developers have this "ship now, fix later" mindset because they can get away with it. So make an effort to change that, whether it's pushing for refunds or worst case, putting on your Jack Sparrow hat for any future games by them.
Ive tried for a refund....but i was told i had the game to long regardless of it being unplayable. But I agree with you. Everyone spent time trying to give the devs info to fix it....but they sit back and watch us do all the work and still do nothing to compensate or help us. Its sad really. Like i said before, good luck with aoe 4 coming out. Might not have any customers left. Not bashing steam, i will still purchase games from them. But the aoe devs need to step in and do something to make it better
Since the day I've been buying this game I can only play OFFLINE, alone...and I'm fed up !
1) Can't access XboxLive (I've a microsoft account since 1997 but he tells me "An error occurred"...
2) Try to tell my problem on the AOE forum, but can't since I can't connect myself to this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ service.
3) Alwayyyyyyys disconnect after arround 2 minutes of the game.

meanwhile they say we have many teams doing different stuff for the game so no worries its a priority.... maybe all of the programmers should be working on this since the beta report..... but nah... lets make auto scouting and skins also while small team work on the issue.

This is not an issue that affects a majority of players, instead affects a small portion of the playerbase. Whilst I also hope it gets fixed, expecting them to put everything else on hold is unrealistic.

There's also some potential I'd image for the fix to involve an entire recode of the server backend. If that's the case I'd wager it will never be fixed.

there is like 30 page here and 30 page on AOE 2 DE site for this issue. i would say not so small portion of the player base. maybe 10% or so..
