Multiplayer problem. Aways getting disconnected after 4-5 minutes.
I tried 3 games in that match making system, in every single one of them the game randomly disconnects with 5 minutes playing, (now I have 3 defeats, lel)

And yes, my connection is working perfectly fine, I don't even get the usual "only steam client random disconnect", so what can I do? (if there is anything I can do).

I'm really disheartened, I hyped this game way too much believing I would finally be able to play it online (because p2p was terrible on hd, and they said we would have servers on de...)

EDIT1: I noticed that i can't get in the lobby anymore every time that happens (That "trying to connect" message).
I need to restart the game so I can enter the lobby again (just so I wait 5 minutes in the queve to be able to play for 5 minutes before I get kicked by the server xD)

EDIT2: Yes, I tested on the new patches, still nothing changed. I am 0/8 on the ranked ladder. Glorious xD

EDIT3: Yes, I tested most "fixes" in the book. Connecting the pc directly in the cable, changing routers, disabling firewall/antivirus, QoS/etc router settings, etc. Absolutely no change, aways getting kicked out of the game on 4-5 minutes mark :c

EDIT4: I actually managed to finish a match by using a free vpn, and for now that seems to be the only known temporary workaround for that issue (Worked for me, I don't know about everyone else...)

Alright, everyone! This is still something we are attempting to narrow down to its definite causes. For now, please bear with me as I begin to sound a little redundant on behalf of figuring this out.

Here’s what I need from you if you are reliably experiencing this issue:
  • The type of Router you are using. Many people provided their on-board computer specifications, but I need the actual router you are using. Please include a link to the item or store so we can confirm the details.
  • If you are not using a Router: the type of Modem into which you are hard-wired. This may be a Netgear or another modem. Please include a link to the item or store so we can confirm the details.
  • [Even if you provided it before] Your Internet Provider and the Country where you live. This is more of a reference point than anything, but I want to be 100% sure that the team has this information in case it is needed.
As an example:
I know this will be redundant for some of you, but I would like to ensure that I have as much (and as accurate) information as possible so we can try to trace a pattern. As of now, the issue seems to be related to the routers people are using—particularly since most people who have “upgraded” to a new router have reported that it fixed the issue.

Thank you for your ongoing assistance in working through this problem; I know it is frustrating, and can assure you that we are doing everything we can to reliably reproduce and diagnose the issue internally. The sooner you can get me this information, the easier it will be for me to compile it for our engineers.

What Network Hardware are you using?
- Cable ethernet directly to modem from ISP
What ISP do you use?
- NET Virtua
In what region are you connecting to the game?
- Amazonas - Brazil
Are you using a VPN?

Any other information about your networking that might help the team...
- Ramdomly disconnected between 1-30 minutes. The connection is fine, ping is fine, stable connection, no package loss, but suddenly age of empires server disconnected.

How were you able to use a VPN? I am using NORD but can't connect to multiplayer though. Am I missing something? I'm tired of the constant disconnection :(

random network disconnect in game
the game is randomly losing server connection, this happens at random times 1min to 1h. I did log my (500mbit/s) network connection and there are no issues with it, the problem is within the game (or it's servers?). This is a game breaking issue that needs to fixed asap.

2/3 of my ranked games end in random disconnects.
Doesn't matter if it's 1v1 or 4/4, someone always disconnects and the game is ruined.

I sometimes have to reconnect to multiplayer or even restart AoE because it won't let me reconnect.
Same happens in regular lobby games with friends.

It's not my 3500$ computer or any of my hardware at fault here, everything is brand new and works flawlessly in every other multiplayer game I own.
My internet connection does not drop, it stays up and running the whole time, fiberoptic 500mbps connection.
There's no chance that there is something wrong on my end.

You guys saying VPN "fixed" it must be joking.. why would it work? or why even go those extremes if it indeed is a wordaround?

Doing ♥♥♥♥ in windows registry should not have to be done to play a legally bought game on steam in 2019/2020. Won't even try it.

TLDR; FIX UR GAME!

Same here! Also happening for my friends who play also. Game just exists back to windows immediately, then about 1 min later to the people still in the game is says you've resigned. Such a frustrating bug, should not be happening in a production version of a game!

Disconnect in every multiplayer mode consistently at around 5 minutes 15 seconds. Haven't had one successful game, played 10 games, mostly 1v1 but also did one team match and one deathmatch, same error at just over 5 mins. Attempting to play multiplayer after a drop causes a long "Signing into multiplayer services" message, which eventually connects.

This makes me think the problem has something to do with authentication. Considering this was opened in november and it's not solved in January 2020, I'm probably wasting time writing this.

Message; "You have been disconnected from the network. Please check your connection and try again".

Not using a VPN, when using a (paid) VPN the game to says "Cannot connect to steam services". It's not my internet, can play any of my other online games including 2013 Aoe 2 on voobly without any problems.

Game works absolutely fine for the first 5 minutes, no lag or desync, good connection, no fps lag, over 60 fps at all times. Then instant drop without warning.

No active antivirus, I use a static manual scanner.

Would appreciate a response.

i created a mp lobby and start a game only with me and 2 bots, no other players and the problem is the same. dc after 5minutes. what a broken game!

"Something you might try, no guarantees though:

go to windows 10 home settings.
go to gaming section
go to xbox networking

press test and wait til the report is done. if you get the msg that Toredo or what ever the NAT name is unable to qualify then press fix, wait til they say we tried to fix it for you please test again.
Do the test again and it should say Nat type is open."

I managed to fix it!! But its such a random fix, definitely something is wrong with the game. I had to use a VPN and not use the normal servers, but the obfuscated VPN servers with UDP. Now it works fine, what a weird problem this game has. If anyone has a VPN available to them, try that as a fix.
