Game Language Reverts Back to Default Bug

My game language keeps resetting to default (to my system language). No matter how many times I pick english from settings, this happens. I hate this.

What I found out:
- If I pick any other language such as spanish or german, it sticks. English doesn't.
- Above point makes it obvious, but the problem is not read/write rules; I checked both appdata folders and steam game folders.
- If I relaunch and go to settings, it will SEEM like english is selected and being displayed, but in fact it's my system language still.
- Registry fiddling with game language doesn't change a thing.
- Adding language packs to windows and switching priorities doesn't help.

I'm at my wit's and patience's end. Any help?

Langauge Change since last update

Another Update, another slew of bugs.

Now the in-game language suddenly changed.

My Steam is in English, my Settings for Age of Empires have English selected in Steam as well as in-game, but the language is different.

Game keeps changing language to native.

I have the same issue. Changing the language in the setting to anything else and switching back to the desired language helps (until you close and start the game again).

Impossible to play in english

I don't live in an english speaking country, but I wish to play aoe in english.

It turns out that since one or two weeks ago it always starts in portuguese, even though "english" is selected as the langueage.

I've tried it in french and spanish, and the game works perfectly. Seems like the only language it doens't work is english.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this?

+1 to the same issue. Don't really have anything against my own language (Polish) but I played AoE in English for all of my life and I would prefere it to stay in English.

English is selected both in Steam and the options.

How do you get that log?
I guess currently it just reads the windows primary language (display language?) and that's it.
