In game chat sometimes does not work

I don't know if this issue is being tracked or not, but it has been a long on going issue.
Most of the time when you hit Enter to chat and type to your allies, it works just fine. At other times, you will see the chat box comes up after hitting Enter, but you CAN'T type anything.
I have to spam the Enter key a few times to get rid of it, reopen it, and then it will work.

I can try to record a video of this. But honestly, I don't think a video can do much because it just looks like I'm hitting the Enter key, the chat box pops up, and I'm not typing anything. And that is exactly what happens. It's not something that happens all the time that I can reproduce consistently. It's just randomly happens when I play. I only play 4v4 vs AI if that matters.

Have had this problem ever since aoe2 de started. Seems to happen when you use the arrow keys to navigate (which is all the time) and then press enter. Mod I spoke to, via email, I think, said it was a well known issue but they have no idea how to fix it.
