Mapuche, Muisca, and the Tupi are officially revealed as the New Civs for Feb 2026
Newest DLC is "The Last Chieftains".

From AoE2 official website:

"The Last Chieftains introduces three new civilizations, all of them for play in Ranked, and each with their own unique units, technologies, and architecture: the Mapuche, Muisca, and the Tupi! Challenge your friends in Skirmish matches or battle your way across South America with three new Campaigns, commanding the forces of folk heroes such as Lautaro, Pacanchique, and Arariboia. These Campaigns feature memorable moments and characters like the berserker Galvarino, or Nicolas Durand the swashbuckling adventurer. The Muisca campaign can even be played from two unique perspectives, depending on whether you decide to serve the noble Nemequene or the greedy Quemuenchatocha. "

While the images could be campaign related, the image for the Mapuche shows mounted units indicating the Mapuche will have access to a Stable.

If I'm reading it correctly, all of them are going to have an unique architecture set each. We haven't gotten a new archi set for any main-line civ since the release of DE

You really thought the main dev team would add three architecture sets? They aren't CA, even getting one more in five years is a monumental task for them.

It don't indicate squat. It could just be their Castle UU.
Based DLC. First one I'm going to buy since 2023 for this game and alongside Dynasties of Indias the only must-have post-DE DLC.

I already know I'm going to love Mapuche.
More eagles? Count me in!
One of the teaser pics shows a new unique cav unit, are we going to get a cavalry meso civ or a stable for meso civs?
From what I understand they get a new architecture all three share.
Which is still pretty nice.

I hope it will be accompanied with a bit of a rework for the American civs, like getting something done with their navy, maybe getting an extra regional unit in addition to the eagle warrior since just the eagle warrior is a bit sparse when missing out on the entire stable as well as cavalry archers.

Or maybe a replacement of a common line. Like for the swordsmen or the archer line.

Try stuff like N*n* Banana and you see that architectures can be made quite quickly... at least a template that can be modified. Maybe we get more architectures now
I'm interested, but I'm not excited or moved. The game has too many civilizations, too many gimmicks, too many changes.. to the point where I don't think the game is truly AoE2 anymore.

This would be okay if they were made well, but most of the time, they aren't. Don't mess it up.. if that's anything to hope for I guess?

These look like their castles to be honest and these could possibly be their Unique Units. Architecture might be shared but castle design still different across all civs.
Sad no Purepecha or Chimus. Hopeful for Arquebusiers like in the cover art.
i am so happy with mapuches being added to this game thank so much aoe2 for this aaaaaaa so hyped
Aw man, sad to see they're going back to adding actual peoples with a coherent identity and not the new and improved practice of adding dynastic factions within a single civilization from outside the timeline, Well, if we're really lucky then at least they'll all speak modern South American Spanish.
As great, as that sounds, those native Americans are still going to be running around with iron swords and chainmails, not to mention the gunpowder cannon galleons. This is probably the best time to start adding those regional skin packs (with an off-switch for competitive crowd).

And you literally get Huns with 100 Years War Paladins fighting Portuguese with 1200s English gunpowder weapons.

It is what it is. Games are, by nature, abstractions.
Too many civs, this game is getting SUPER bloated. Stopped buying dlcs a while back.
