Changes to Black Forest

So, I play Black Forest almost exclusively, and I've gotta say, they completely ruined the map. Every change made, took away every part of the map type that was fun. I genuinely don't understand the thought process behind making what was a traditionally close, bottle neck filled, resource abundant map, and making it more open, fewer bottle necks/tunnels, and nearly no resources outside the starting area. Wow. How fun. If these changes are permanent, could we at least get a Black Forest Classic or something? Who was complaining about the lakes? The lakes were amazing, and now you're lucky to get a pond! The ♥♥♥♥ is this ♥♥♥♥!?

I don't know why they don't just make the new version of Black Forest it's own map style. Its one thing that always sort of bothered me about AoE2's map pool, you have a few maps like Black Forest, Arabia, Cenotes, Serengeti and Mongolia which are pretty basic maps and pretty much the only difference between them is the map generation being tampered with, and then from there, every map has to have some gimmick.

So why not just have old black forest and the new one be separate maps for more variety? Or just more maps that have varying levels of resources?

C&C Tiberian Sun had a random map generator that created a map for you based on the selected sliders.

I don't think the new BF is actually bad just a bit different and less predictable than the old version. Its received a visual pass in regards to new Asian style trees , and the addition of wild chickens now. its still very much wall-able though its also it can seem a bit oasis like at times.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the new BF script either. Less random than before. I'd prefer if they took some inspiration from the Rage Forest script instead.

Yep the Black forest map is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. Too few ressources on the map to be fun.

You can still get the classic ones from AOE 2 2013.

This was the devs' true plan all along. Everyone got too distracted by unpopular fringe civs getting overpriced heroes in ranked that they failed to notice that ranked is being ruined for everyone at the root!

I only play black forest as well and I hate the changes so much!! This has ruined the whole game for me sadly ): I really hope they will add the old map back in

Recently tried Black Forest for the first time since before 2013 and it wasn't what I remembered it being. It looks like I'm remembering correctly.

The devs really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up Black Forest. There are now only four relics present at any time instead of having a variable number of them depending on the size of the map.
