Please bring back decaying system in original AOE2.
The decaying of dead body to skeleton was the most immersive design in original AOE2, compared to other competitors like red alert and star craft. All such details made AOE2 not only a video game, but an master piece on canvas. Please do not ruin the memory.

It's been discussed to death. (literally. :P) I'd have to search for it but, yeah I ended up making a mod for it. I *think* it still works. Not sure though...

Problem is, the way units decayed (first bleeding then turning into skeletons) in the original game was drawn on the units sprite-by-sprite. As DE changed the way blood is handled to a shader, the entire decay effect was redrawn as well.
I guess the original effect won't ever be restored bc that essentially means redrawing every single death animation again.

Well, then the team should have a internal discussion, how the cutted animation being approved and released in the beginning, because this change broke the immersion of original game.

Thank you for the hard working. The reason I brought up this topic again is I want always keep this topic in the eyes of develop team and customers, that something need be done on the official side to change this back, I am okay if they charge this as a dlc, or we cannot agree DE as great as the original AOE2.

Sigh... Devs, please make a separate modifiable data mod... I am begging you... (or even some way to modify it with json...) I hate having to update things every single time a data mod patch comes out... (Yes, I tried the civilization.json. It didn't fix it.) It feel like all the work I put into it each time is all wasted.

They just opted for a cleaner style as they also did it with AoE 1 DE and remaking death animation costs time and resources that can be spend somewhere else.

This skeleton decaying is developer responsibility, and they should consider work with you, absorb your progress into an update or DLC, give you credit and change the current miserable decaying system. If Blizzard is so lazy, then the UD will have to spawn their skeleton warriors from a pile of meat.

They could prepare a paid DLC, just like the Blood and Gore of R2TW.
They want that sweet ¥¥¥, so no skeletons allowed

Dev could create a DLC and exclude those regions with censorship.

That's actually not true. The Chinese censorship guidelines only apply when you as a publisher directly want to release your game in China via Tencent or similar.
Using Steam as 3rd Party bypasses these guidelines.

Also, skeletons still exist in AoE 2 DE, as scenario editor objects. The Attila campaign makes heavy use of it.

I thought that the rotting corpses was removed for HD because of its T rating instead of being some other reason why.

Rome total war 2 base game is rated as ESRB, and they released an DLC for blood and gore as M-17.
