So that game is getting 2 DLCs this year, likely just variant civs too, completely destroying the much celebrated asymmetry it had, and allowing MS to milk AoE4 for as much as it can.
also the next one after is supposed to be a big one mentioned by content creators, which could include 2 or more civs, spanish , vikings , incas/ aztecs, we dont know the details yet.
since they had to make aoe2 dlc, aom dlc, and aoe4 x 2 dlcs, thats why they abandon aoe3 dlcs plans, its too much work
I already guess this as part of the reason. DLC was part of the actual promised and sold version for AoM. They had to do it. AoE2 is the most popular and AoE4 is the new one. AoE3 is the odd one out with lower player base.
It's a small team with 90 people. When you're not making whole new games but DLC it's reasonably though stretched across 4 games is a bit much. With support for 3 gone that's 30 people per game now, that's if things are somewhat evenly divided.
