No siege mod
Is there a mod that disables all of the siege but rams
Wanted to play it in skirmish for personal enjoyment but the only mod that I found is outdated and doesn't work with this version of the game

They're called data mods and you're gonna have to look for one in the Mods browser. If there isn't you can always request one from ageofempires.com or make one yourself. You might need to have a little "know-how" but it can be done if all you want is to disable a few units.

I have look for it in the mods browser, but the only one that is there is outdated and doesn't work
I would like to make a data pack, but I can't find a guide anywhere on how to make one
If you can link me a guide on how to make data pack i would be grateful

If you want to use Advance Genie Editor to disable all siege weapons except for siege rams, you will need to edit the tech trees for all 39 civilizations. All of these tech trees are under the Effects tab of AGE and you will be using the Disable Tech command to disable each siege weapon.

As I said, units such as siege weapons are considered to be techs and can be found under the Techs tab. Each tech has an index number assigned to it. The techs in particular you want to disable, along with index numbers, are:

  • Mangonel - 358
  • Onager - 257
  • Siege Onager - 320
  • Scorpion - 94
  • Scorpion - 239
  • Bombard Cannon - 188
  • Houfnice - 787
  • Siege Tower - 510

Given you have to do this for all 39 civilizations, I recommend instead just creating a scenario.

Yes, or you can just disable them for the civ you want to play and the one(s) you're playing against to save time.

would rather make a data pack

- The editor is in the game folder, something like steamapps/AoE2DE/Tools/AdvandedGenieEditor
- You need to load the dat file, something like steamappa/AoE2DE/resources/_common/dat/age-empires-1.dat
- Make the changes in Effects -> search e.g. "Aztecs Tech Tree", duplicate a line and choosr the unit to remove
- Save in another .dat file with same name
- move the new file in a tree resources/_common/dat/age-empires-1.dat
- pack resources in a zip file
- log in on the aoe website, and submit the zip file as public Data Mod

I tried to make a mod "Vemonia - no land ranged siege units", it seemed to work (I am new to modding and try to learn).

Once you suscribe to a mod, you can access the .dat file somewhere like C/Users/Documents/You/Games/AoE2DE/ID/mods/suscribed. You can use an existin data mod as starting point.

Good luck!
