It is a Castle Age/ Early Imp push civ, that is made to overwhelm with numbers and raid everywhere, and sucks in lategame.
In fact, they are much better than Goths, because Knights are much better than Huskarls.
They are not OP, they fall off bad against lategame civs with better Cavaliers/Paladins or Halberdiers.
Halberdier + Arbalest deletes Poles, just like Hussar + Skirm deletes Goths.
Poles are a timing based civ. Just practice your timings.
Obuch trains in 9 seconds from the castle. It is not my favorite unit, but it can spam hard.
