But sadly I think it would be somewhere Spring sale or Summer sale honestly.
Just wait for the incoming winter sale sale and grab it then, its likely going to be the biggest discount you will be seeing for the next 6 months at least...
Bundling 3 DLCs that 1.) are the best rated ones together with the newest and 2.) originally did cost $9.99 each, so the new baseprice corresponds base game + 3 DLCs 50% off is actually the polar opposite of being "greedy", especially considering DEs base price before was cheap in first place (HD Edition with all DLCs is $50 and DE offered you the entirety of HD + a new DLC for $20).
That's problematic tho is making this move so close before a sale, so they were in a 30 days cooldown.
if they really cared they should offer it in a dlc bundle and not forcing it to the base game. Its just a sketchy move by microsoft .
On the other hand you could argue that people are then potentially scared away the more DLCs the game adds similar to Paradox games.
Speaking of DLC bundle, imho the Ultimate Bundle should exclude the Profile Pictures as well as Soundtrack and only have all gameplay-relevant DLCs in it.
I don't mind it being a tip DLC. The inclusion just makes it really weird and unnecessary.
Valve has a 30 days cooldown after price adjustments, that's why only the DLCs are on sale but the base game isn't.
if that is a problem then its as easy as combine the dlcs or create bundles
AoE II: DE already has a bundle for sale on top of adding three dlc packs to basegame. Also, I would rather have bigger basegame than hundreds of dlc packs, but I do not think anymore will be added to basegame again anyway meaning that it will only happen once. Otherwise, its basegame would cost more than basegame of AoE IV at full price which is $40. It is also possible within the next few years that the basegame price will drop from $35 at full price to $30 at full price meaning that it would cost the same as buying AoM: Extended Edition.
the game is dead, it needs new players. By raising the basegame price they are not helping lol.
At 94% positive reviews AoE II: DE is far from dead. I think that you are confusing AoE II: DE with AoE: DE and AoE II: HD.
