Grand Campaign mission 10 The Hot Gates

I must be desperately missing something; hordes and waves of boats attack both of the place that you need to defend; am I doing wrong by researching any of the technologies? Should I just only be making boats?

It's supposed to be challenging imo because the enemy units infinitely respawn. And you have limited resources to replenish your losses. But if you Focus on upgrading Galley's as much as you can and send half the ships to defend the strait to snipe transports and defend your starting shipyards/ports.

The special naval technologies are available. Some are at the port and some are at the Shipyard. But if you get elite Galley and then prayers to artemis for 1k gold. Your Elite Galleys are deathballs. And they can get even better if you get ships regen health and attack faster.

The resources don't matter as you get a new base and resources for Leonidas so spend everything on ships and upgrades.

It is dicey and hard but you can survive pretty easily with prayers to artemis Elite Galleys until Artemisia appears and then Themistocles retreats and you transition to the Hot Gates with Leonidas.

The goal of this mission is not to defeat the enemy, but to survive as long as you can. When the female character announces that she's attacking, that's pretty much the signal that you have completed the mission. After she announces her attack, she just starts spamming an overwhelming amount of military boats at you and you die, completing the mission.

I beat it pretty easily by just fully upgrading Galleys and spamming tons of them. Half of them to the left to intercept the transport ships, and half to the center/right to fight the incoming enemy ships.
