AOE 2 HD vs Definitive edition
There is the HD version and the Definitive version and both are the same price?
Which is the best?
I don't understand why there are two versions on steam at the same price?

Get DE though. It has more content, and the matchmaking in HD kind of sucked unless you got something called voobly (basically different improved matchmaking servers).

There's an argument for voobly being better (although I think most people prefer DE), but as a new player you probably don't want to go through the effort of setting up voobly. And aside from that, DE is better in basically ever way.
