Trouble with Atilla the hun 6 campaign need help!
This is by far the hardest mission i've ever played.. borderline impossible.

I've been sitting on this quest on moderate difficulty for a little over a day.
i just can't seem to be able to complete it.

Every time i reach varona, i get utterly destroyed by their literal endless ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ army.
I'm not even kidding, they have like 150+ army made up of axe throwers paladins monks and archers and trebs which are downright im-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-penetrable.

My whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ society is 150, how am i supposed to compete with their gigantic army?
I need help.

I played this mission recently so I know the struggle. I think its a really unfair mission that they make you fight like 4 post imperial well defended cities with multiple time limits as they are all capable of building a wonder (it also bothered me that they were all a different civ which made it harder to fight so many different units; I feel like they should have all been Italians or Byzantines since its still Roman Italy). Anyway I feel like the developers designed the scenario just to give a use to the Hun's unique tech Atheism.

What I did to win was immediately collect the stone to build two castles in the mountain pass leading to your town centre, feel free to put a gate and walls in the gap between the castles as well. Get your economy going very quickly and once you're able to build another castle by the big gold mines near your starting base. Likewise build a castle on the opposite side of your mountain pass starting area where all your stone mines are. That covers all the entrances to your base and protects the resources you'll need. Feel free to add more castles within range of one another to clear out enemy armies more quickly and to minimise the damage done to each castle. Dont bother building watch towers.

You'll want your base to be well protected since as you've seen this mission is a pain and you dont want to interrupted while attacking to find your base being destroyed.

For your army immediately go for Paladins and Trebuchets. Huns thankfully have 30% more accurate trebuchets so you dont as many annoying moments where a volley fails to take out a building because a few missed. Don't bother with Tarkans, they're weak fighters and your trebuchets will be much better at taking out buildings. The good news is that 2, if not 3 of the 4 cities you have to destroy build their wonders in a spot where your trebuchets can reach them from outside the walls. Green is really easy and you can hit their city without having to even move far from where you may have set up some of your castles. Use the enemy's walls against them as once you start firing your trebuchets their armies will come out of the gates to attack you.

The one thing I stupidly didnt make use of was the huns cheap cavalry archers when i should have. As well as your paladins have at least one group of heavy cav archers, probably 30. Use them to pick off the enemy army's units as they come out of the gates. The one flaw in the AI is that it moves all its units individually rather than making them group up, so units normally come out a few at a time so your archers shouldnt have too hard of a time. Have your paladins on standby as well.

Destroy the wonders, then destroy their town centre. I'm not sure if its deliberate but the AI usually resigns shortly after losing their starting TC.

Hope this helps!

This one isn't really anything special when it comes to campaigns. Rush to castle defense (I remember even building 2 close to each other in this mission), mass cavalry archers, make a few trebs and go snipe some wonders/bases. Defend with knights or tarken against the siege.

Each enemy AI resigns when they lose their Wonder(s) and Town Center(s) (Purple has two of each). So focus on destroying the Wonder and Town Center and then they'll start deleting their units (easier said than done, I know).

Funny. I made that comment over a year ago when I had completed the mission on standard. I've completed it on hard now and can definitely confirm cavalry archers are hugely important.

Start by playing defensively. Boom, build castles and fill them all with 20 cav archers to boost their damage. Paladins are still essential. Tarkans are still not worth making. Just throw in halbs to deal with cavalry and you're good. You just need to weather the storm that is the initial attack of all 4 enemy cities, which you can easily do with the cav archer + castle combo, plus some paladins or hussars to snipe enemy siege. Once you've survived the initial wave get ready to go after the wonders. Red is very easy as you can reach their wonder from outside the walls, plus red is the weakest opponent anyway. After defeating red go for green. Their wonder is also within treb range outside the walls. Camp the hill with your cav archers and paladins while your trebs destroy the wonder, then take out greens castles. After that its just purple and orange. Now that you can concentrate on purple its not hard to defeat them, which just leaves orange. Take some villagers and build military buildings right outside oranges city as you cant waste time by having your reinforcements traverse the entire map. Defeat orange and you've won. Winning the scenario basically comes down to whether or not you can survive the initial 4v1 onslaught. Once you've taken out red, its easier to concentrate on green, followed by purple then orange.

Also worth mentioning is that the trigger for 2 of the 4 cities to build a wonder is actually based on your units being near other cities. Purples wonder begins shortly after starting the mission, but red will only start once some of your units have entered purple's city. Green starts 1 in-game hour (half an hour real time) into the mission, and orange will only start theirs once you have had units enter greens city. Use that info as you will to try to avoid triggering red and oranges wonders too early.

This is useful not only for the mission itself but for the achievement related to this map.

This is one of the last achievements that I didn't unlocked yet, so thanks for that info.

just have to know the way to go and the enemy on top has to be rushed, too.
But definitely possible. For the achievement I took that route, too.
Along with a lot of castles for defenses that helped slow down enemies and cav units against trebs that I let out of the castle occasionally.

All that on standard difficulty, though.
Not sure if same strat can be used on higher difficulties

For the achievement on standard you can just send Petards (you start with a Castle so you can train them right in the beginning) since the enemy units and towers will be too reluctant to attack them. And your base will be fine as long as you build Castles. It's on moderate difficulty that this scenario becomes a tough one, in my opinion the toughest in this campaign (4 and 5 are hard too but on those you have only one serious enemy instead of four).

Everyone is writing a novel about this mission damn.

Just finish off green very early as he is weakest from get go. Also spam skirmisher to defend from pink mass enough trash units with siege behind them and thats it. easy game.

Well, I didn't figure it out yet. I was almost win the match, and my Attila was dead :(. First, spawn village and build another town center. tried to get the board fast (Avoid losing villager). then get ur horse to both the gold and the stone. when the second town center is done, spawn all the villager into gold (very needed to quick stacking gold to get ready for battle). Also spawn 4-6 villagers to stone (They will be killed). Build a castle and 4 barracks as soon as u can, get the halberder, and spawn it with all ur resource , set it behind the horse calvary. Get all of it done before the first wonder is done, and use all ur force to def by spawning halberdiers and alway have at least 10 tarkans (to destroy the onager and the annoying trebuchets). tried to get the full army of halberdiers with full tech before a fight). when u destroyed the purple wonder, set all ur unit back to the castle, and set the town center bell on to def since there will be a large army of orange unit will come (I did it and I lost only 3 Halberdiers). Now go to the green and cross them out of the game. Don't tried to get rid with the red without any castle def and militaries around to spawn unit. Just destroy the wonder, and leave them alone (They won't be able to make any big mess around since they didn't provided with lots of gold). Don't play all in with the orange *yet, get gold villagers here, build a castle and 4 barracks (my advise is close enough to protect the trebuchets) to spawn halberdier. the put them in the castle. use ur trebuchet to mess with'em, then put it behind the castle, protected it by halberdiers and cal archer (don't waste ur tarkan since their health and amor are higher than heavy calvary with cheaper price and upgrade, they are doing very good in the tanking and taking advance against range/siege units). keep spawning halberdiers , till ur enemy lost all their troops. Go in, destroy the castle, and end the purple, then rush back to def. Last jobs is, end the red (Don't lets Attila die like I did :))

YOu can probably just spam straight champions against the ai and beat their buildings

Every Mission is easy if you look at the Map and make a Strategy.

Easiest Way to lay Siege is with Castles, Archers and Trebuchets.

You can rush Verona by building Castles, Stables and Archery Ranges.
Set Collection Points for Paladins and Heavy Archers
and snipe Castles and other Buildings with Trebuchets.

Just make your timing:

"The four Italian cities will build Wonders in the following conditions:

1. Padua/Patavium will build its first Wonder 45 seconds after the start of the game, and the second Wonder when the player approaches its second Town Center in Verona.
2. Aquileia will build its Wonder when the player approaches Padua/Patavium.
3. Milan/Mediolanum will build its Wonder after 30 in-game minutes.
4. Verona will build its Wonder when the player approaches the city.

Playing as Huns, the Atheism technology is useful to extend the Wonders' countdown and delay their victory (unless the player is going for the "No Wonder on my Watch" achievement in the Definitive Edition, which requires no Wonders to be completed during the game). "
