- On 700 Elo, players get more wrong than right. This includes you
- This can create a lot of frustration on its own
- Allies might have gotten frustrated with the game and/or you. It is very common if allies are attacked that they make you responsible for their lack of defense. Walling in trade in castle/imp and not already walling in TC/mill in dark age suggest that they could have started game with non-trolling mindset and something changed after. Would need to check replays (you can do that in single player section) for further clues
My solution: Never queue with randoms on low/mid Elo*. 1/3 of experience is ok and 2/3 will be bad and really bad. Or really, really bad. After all it's you who decided to join them, not the devs.
*This means solo ranked or sending friend invites on steam to nicer players.
Don't make excuses for griefing.
Playing somewhat badly fine, making mistakes fine, maybe even blaming team mates fine. You cross the line when you start walling in ally resources.
Also at 700 ELO at least you kind of know everyone is bad. I've been playing team games at 1100-1200 ELO. There are people there that are sub 800 ELO, they're just floating there somehow probably getting carried every other game. Give an example of a game. I'm dealing with arguably one of the hardest pushes to handle fast imp Turk push. I'm barely clinging on but I'm managing. Expecting my pockets to have boomed up and soon be ready to help. 10 minutes go by. I'm still fighting them off they're not giving up on this all in. Then I see the death knell a few minutes later. Second enemy is bringing in his heavy cavalry. While I was maybe slowly losing (hard to tell) 1 vs 1. It's now 2 vs 1. What does my pocket near me have. Nothing. Not a single military unit that I could see. They're playing sim city. I swear Arena allows for the most degenerate play. Also it was the same on the opposite side, the other pocket was doing basically nothing while the flank was getting 2 vs 1.
I've had several team mates with low win rates. I had one guy with 44% win rate. Why is he this ELO? I don't know, trolling? Could not tell you.
So you're right about one thing, without friends team games can be pretty awful.
If I was somebody reviewing games for bad behaviour and I saw a player walling in their own allies resource. I would not think, I would just give them a on the spot week ban.
@Molkiloke
I recommend some 1 vs 1 as renehvac says and take a break from team games. Improve your own skill and see if you can't climb your way out at a later date and/or find some friends who are roughly your level and willing to improve with time.
Also at big companies when they are out of arguments their decisions become "strategic".
This is the biggest cope. At 900 ELO people are dropping castles on each other most likely, it's not far removed from me at 1100ish ELO. Also Arena is in the 1 vs 1 map pool permanently. How is a 19 pop build order different than a 24 pop fast castle?
Don't play team games with random people.
