AOE II DE Crashing
Hello, my AOE started to crash quite frequently over the past couple of weeks. I don't use any mods. Tried to reinstall the game with no improvement. Any help please ? Thank you.

Same here. I manage to play about 20-40 minutes and then it crashes my whole PC. Hadn't played it since the summer, but I've added a few DLCs since and plenty of updates in the background, of course.

Reinstalling the game and updating the graphics drivers haven't helped.

How much memory do you have? Back when AoE2: DE did this on my rig, it was most likely because I had 8GB of DDR3.

32GB DDR5, i7-13700K, 1080Ti.
I have moved installation files to another drive, tried running as administrator (doesn't really work as it reverts to running the game through Steam).

As said, it worked fine in the summer. I bought The Mountain Royals DLC in October and Return of Rome DLC in December, and I guess Update 99311 that received Hotfix 99404 that was introduced to fix crashes caused by the update.

Might be worth mentioning that I'm not using any mods and I've only tried playing Skirmishes (base game and Rome), also me being either logged in to Xbox Live or not hasn't really mattered.

Reinstalled C++ Redistributables and rebooted, turned on V-sync and windowed mode in the game's graphics settings, and finally managed to finish a session, although that may have been just due to shorter playtime, which was less than 50 mins. Previous session crashed slightly above 50 mins. Will re-test tomorrow whether it works in full-screen.

Reinstalling the C++ Redistributables was the solution. Thank you.

I had a crashing issue for a few months last year but it was fixed by simply turning off my NVIDIA Control Panel overlay. I tried EVERYTHING yet some how didn't think to do that for 5+ months...
