Indeed, strategy games are probably very difficult to learn how to play, and to learn you have to spend some time. Theres some campaign tutorials that teach you how to play, the William Wallace campaign is the absolute basic to the RTS genre, but there´s also the Art of War tutorials that teach you some fundamentals for AoE2, try those first.

Takes a few months and than you'll be owning everybody online.

Recommend order: Art of War then William Wallace like nehireta.

You don't need to be gold all Art Of War to learn the game.

play skirmish with the AI on lowest difficulty, they shouldn't advance ages until you do and are unlikely to rush you, you don't need to know all the jargon strategy when starting out.

basic tips to help:
-Always try to keep your town center working until you reach about half population of villagers, or have enough steady resources coming in

-After dark age try to keep a military building working on something, Pikemen or Skirmishers are the easiest for most civs but Cavalry / Unique units can be good if you can keep up with the gold costs

-Bind a key that is easy for you to press to "idle villagers" in keybindings, if you aren't doing anything then mash that key a few times. Villagers should always be doing something

-Houses are cheap, try to build them in advance before you hit population cap

-Rebuilding a resource camp (lumber camp, mining camp, mill, etc) closer to the resource is a good thing, especially for lumber camps as the woodline recedes. Less villager walking = more resources. Generally if they are walking more then 3-5 tiles it is time to rebuild it.

I'm going go out on a wild guess here and say the OP is a troll.

Two reasons. 1. Country on profile is set to North Korea. How or why Steam has this as an option when North Korea is locked out of accessing the normal internet. 2. Saying units are too slow, unless you play on slow speed or using siege/monks units are not THAT slow if your units die fast so do enemy units.

Maybe they'll reply and say something reasonable as an explanation, but I doubt they'll post again and if they do it will likely insulting or inflammatory. Or I could be just paranoid about trolls. I'd like to be proven wrong.

Oh, didn't you ask on the official Discord earlier today? I've seen you mentioning the 2nd Joan of Arc mission.

Did you checked the fan wiki?
https://ageofempires.fandom.com/wiki/The_Maid_of_Orleans

I guess playthroughs of this mission on YouTube would help as well.

campaign too hard? lol. Practise build orders in single player skirmish.

Ir is not too hard at all on standard (bronze) difficulty for any skirmish or even campaign (although, some people have apparently admitted they might struggle on some of the missions even on bronze); although, my advice is stick to William Wallace and maybe art of war first and then one sword difficulty campaigns (especially Joan of Arc, Montezuma, and EL Cid if you want easiest one sword campaigns) before switching over to two and three sword campaigns if you really are that bad at this game. William Wallace is also definitely the easiest campaign as well to get gold medals at least on basegame assuming a player does not own RoR dlc as well.

OP wrote they already did William Wallace and are now stuck on the 2nd Joan mission.
