Also this is not a remake, it's a remaster.
I tried to find the differences between remake and remaster and here are a few of them where you can either use link or type in "difference between remake and remaster" from search menu where these four examples are the first four that show up from search results :
A remake tells the same story as the original but uses a different cast and may alter the theme, perhaps to a different cultural context - either in geography or time.
A remaster refers to changing the quality of the sound or of the image, or both, of previously created recordings, either audiophonic, cinematic, or videographic.
A video game remake is a modern version of a classic video game rebuilt from scratch, while a remaster updates relatively recent releases from the last few years to keep up with ever-changing technology.
In a remake, the game is reproduced from scratch, usually with a new engine and modern graphics, while in a remaster, the game's graphics are enhanced.

It might be a good idea to edit your original thread by mentioning it as a remaster instead of reamake, but besides that mistake you made I do agree with you.
It's an enhanced remaster you could say because more content and features have been added. So it lives in an unusual place compared to most remasters. We welcome the continued support or I think most do. Remake very much is a ground up rebuild, new engine and new everything, sometimes voice actors may reprise roles but wholly new experienced based upon an old one. Maybe that's the key one experience. You went back and put somebody that had not played AoE2 in 20 years, they'd find themselves thinking it was the same game they played all those years ago, maybe they'll spot a few QoL features and changes here or there. Plus triple the civs :P
Starcraft 2 still has the best RTS campaign (gameplay wise if you want to be more specific) of any RTS game I've ever played, probably will for some time. Warcraft 3 is Reforged specifically is a nightmare but the original is still my favourite RTS and joint favourite game of all time.
My top 3 RTS are Warcraft 3, Starcraft 2 and Age of Empires 2. Depending on the mood of the pathing in AoE2 it's placement swaps with Starcraft 2. Staggering that 3 RTS games live in my top 10 games of all time.
There are many RTS campaigns that wholly surpass it.
A lot of people complain that Definitive means done, no more, nothing added, and hate that they continue to come out with more things in the game. I think it's freakin awesome that they can do that, even after 24 years. Yes, it is annoying that with every DLC you do have to buy it... but the way I see it... I like playing this game, I like that when something goes wrong they can fix it, even if it does take a while sometimes, or even in some cases their maintenance does cause a bug or a glitch... they still eventually fix it... and it costs money to run games and maintain them. So if you don't like that they do that, you can always return to Age of Empires II HD.
The definitions that you cited of remake vs remaster does allow for quite a lot of room for interpretation as to what is one or the other, and in those terms I think it out of line for you to say the OP made a mistake. It's not clear at all to me that a mistake was made, and I think the point of the OP remains regardless of opinion on the use of one or the other term.
