Mangudai Madness - tips
I don't like this challenge - I prefer the goals-based ones that were actually achievable.

I've tried this new challenge a few times, and I just lose after the first round... so, I'm taking the discussion here to see if anyone has some tips that will let me get farther... with no settlers or resources, there doesn't seem like anything that I can do. I just find this challenge frustrating.

If u don't like this challenge, don't play it. There are not achievements for winning. This challenge is based on your skill level. I'm 1650 and I needed about 10 attemps to win round 19 (I lost in the last round 20).

I have searched your profile on aoe2insights and i watched you have no elo and you only play against the AI, so i guess your real elo is about <800 elo. It's totally impossible that you can win round 10 max.

My tips are:

1. First, learn how to play this game (play ranked games, search tutorials, build orders, guides...)
2. When you have improved, you will be able to pass this challenge without problems.

Its mostly about kiting, while not running too much. Like the person above me said, you might be better off getting more comfortable with the game first, but the challenge might be able to help you get used to using archer units at any rate. What you're supposed to do is shoot and run away to maximize your damage while minimizing damage taken. What makes archer units(especially very mobile ones like cavalry archers) is the fact that they can safely attack, flee, and then attack again.

I don't care to play others; I enjoy the AI... and I've been playing the game for a long, long time.

I don't say that there is anything wrong with the challenge; I just like the other ones better, and it's frustrating.

Thanks; I usually win with overwhelming resources; I may try the attacking and running away. I don't really care to play against others - I enjoy playing the AI, but I've played for a long time. There are definitely things you learn by playing others, but I'm just not as much into that.

If you play against the AI and increase the difficulty level when it starts to get too easy, you'll gradually pick up on things like trying to preserve your units, kiting with them, and so on.

For this challenge you need a lot of level and skills. It's impossible to get them playing against the AI because it's really bad, so you'll never get better.

Therefore, as I said before, my recommendation is that you learn to play this game well and you will enjoy some challenges, but you will feel frustrated with each challenge because you do not have a level.

Learn to split your Mangos into 2 group, one for bait and another for output dps. Noted that sometimes the role will be switched due to enemy target changes, or even both team as dps output.

Priotize tricking enemy into going North West, North East, South East, South West.

My tips though, I barely success in taking down the saboteur.

The prioritisation of one pkayer group over all others really annoying. Lots of people play to relax not to "be better".

oh wow the new challenge looks like something we talked about in a discussion thread a week or two back. There's a leaderboard now and its actually more engaging instead of do x times. I wonder if devs actually read these threads and take them into consideration or it was pure coincidence.

Learn to kite. Use 2-4 control groups and alternate between move and attack move away from the enemy units. Don't strafe to far away from the Wonder or the enemy units attack it.
The challenge is mostly about being able to manage multiple control groups at once.

That's exactly what I've been doing. Thanks!

Thank you... I hadn't thought of that; I just tried to overwhelm them, and was not succeeding. I may try again with splitting my forces.

It is nice that there is a leaderboard; I still prefer the challenges we've had in the past. But our differences make things interesting. Some devs likely read the threads (or at least the ones that look interesting to them)... if they have time.
