Can't start the game

When I want to open AOE 2 DE, it starts for a second and then immediately closes... Never had this kind of problem before, I tried verifying game cache, but nothing changed. I guess they messed up somewhere in this new patch.

Anyone else having this problem ?

Game does not launch after last patch

Played just yesterday. After today patch, when picture with 3 kings shows up game closes.
Made integrity check and reboot. No result ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey ! I am having the same issue. I tried to reinstall the game but it did nothing :/

im the same cant launch the game now i cant seem to find a fix to.

after new patch game will not launch

just did the update and now game will not launch it starts to open for a few seconds and then does nothing will no error message i can then relaunch the game and same thing happens

I had the same problem, the game doesn't start after the patch of 20 July. So I read somewhere that I should check Windows update for optional updates. And there was one optional update for Windows 10. (Version 2004). After that the game works perfectly!!! :)
(I had no trouble playing the game before the patch of 20 July).

Unfortunately not something that works for me. I tried updating to 2004 and it hasn't worked for me and it has also broke my Audio Drivers so I had to rollback.

same problem! i get the 3 heads pop up in the box and then it disappears and says 'play' on steam again
