Medals on Campaigns
I'm mostly a campaign player, and since launch I've been working hard to do the campaigns on Hard mode. Now the new patch comes and all my progress has been invalidated because now it only shows Bronze medals. What can I do (other than the obvious repeating every single campaign) to get the gold medals to reflect my actual accomplishments?

Welcome to my world, I'm pretty mad about this, I literally lost my interest in finishing the campaigns, I guess I'll wait some days to keep the grind since now with this patch Im not feeling like it -_-

-Previously there was no flag for difficulty completed. You could try loading save games if you have anyway. Essentially sometimes that's the price of new cool features.

That does not seem like a well thought solution. What if I start redoing all the campaigns (which I should not have to), and halfway through my playthrough the devs decide to tweak another thing or add/remove a feature which once again messes with my progress?

I should note that I play casually, and do not have the time to grind campaigns all day long. I also don't play this game for the multiplayer, like most people do

Yeah I am here to say this. What the hell is going on in their mind? I basically did 70% of all campaigns already on HARD. Re-trying some levels multiple times. I have 140 hours already in DE and solely play the campaigns as I don't have time for multiplayer anymore.

And now I get Bronze medals everywhere instead of the Golds that I deserve. What a horrible feature. Feels more like a punishment.

Oh god i thought i was the only one with this weird thing in my head, i did 2 and a half continents in hard and all i see now is bronze, and tbh it kind of makes you feel bad about it.
I guess we would have to find some sort of work around, wink cobra wink/

For me this new feature i don't really care about it. It is just a thing which only you can see.
And I don't really want to redo the mission again , quite tired and meaningless right?
Redo it and get the golden medal , for what?
Is it worth for players to redo the campaigns ?If do so , how can they be worth? Once you finished the mission on hard already , so do it again through paying double time to tell other people wow you have so much free time but not 'you are really skilled on campaign'

Cheats don't work as they disable the achievements

- Use save games to get some easy medals (I just checked, will get about half my gold medals back with little to no effort and time)

- Continue with the campaigns and missions that you haven't finished yet. Once all of those are golden, you can return to the bronze ones

- Don't care so much about the medal you see, YOU know that you did it on hard so it will give you a sense of what you already played successfully. And who knows, once you are done with all the rest, you might just return to them for fun or try to get achievements or try to get a fast time anyways.

I just don't understand why it's so hard to give people the medal equal to the difficulty of the level they beat.

Because this information was never saved before this patch. It was only saved if you beat the mission at all (so the game can give you the next mission of the campaign).

So they had to make a choice ... give all people gold awards even if they beat the level on a lower level, which is fine, or piss all who actually beat the level on hard by giving everyone the bronze medal.

Because they have no way to know at what difficulty levels you beat the missions.

I'm a bit salty about this too, since I did most missions on moderate and some on hard, and only got bronze medals, but heh, this is why I stopped playing when I heard about this change: I strongly suspected I'd get screwed over. Given that I overplayed AoE2 DE (90 hours in three weeks) I'll wait a bit, play some Warhammer Total War, and get back to AoE2 DE once I'm not burned out anymore.
