If you want to look at the top players you can go to the leader board in game under ranked/custom lobby section. Viper could probably higher but I think he's been playing less 1 vs 1 or so I heard.
EDIT: Example.

(EDIT 2: Why is this link flagged as malicious?)
I do not know why it was flagged malicious, but I was able to watch the video link from search menu and does answer my question. I have however seen Hera lose against TheViper on 1v1 (Sicilians vs Magyars), but Hera also admitted that he did not have a good starting position that was not good to help explain why he lost against TheViper from that match.
Steam's automatic system sometimes acts weird

@James: you can check Viper's Liquipedia article. It tracks his performance in Tournaments:
https://liquipedia.net/ageofempires/TheViper
but for me the most entertaning player to watch

Technically any one of use 'can' beat the Viper but our odds of doing it are so slim theyr not even worth mentioning/considered a sick joke...
The problem with the Viper is three fold: too good at micro¯o , too consistent , aand not prone to strategic blunders while most folk can cont themselves lucky if they got just two of those attributes
I've been watching AoE matches for a long time and I was exactly like you
In fact, I stopped watching any Viper vids because I just assumed he'd win (and he did)
Just got boring. Low-Elo Legends is where it's at.
The meta strats of pro games get hella old
Sounds like for every 10 vids you see, only 1 he loses. It's pretty wild lol
I think that Viper might lose multiplayer more frequently if it is bigger than 1v1 assuming that it is a team game instead of free for all.
