Spam Files in Safe Game Folder - "SP Replay v ... @ ... .aoe2record"
Why is the Safe Game Folder spammed with Files
named "SP Replay v ... @ ... .aoe2record"?
1. It is just Spam that takes away endless Space.
2. And endless Time to Safe or Load a Safe Game File.

EDIT: Skirmish games the record tick box option in in the bottom right of the options of the lobby, untick that. You'll have no single player replays now.

It's not spam, it's a replay file, in your case for singleplayer games.

The game always used to store savegames and replay files within the same folder.

so - is there a way to get rid of this?
or - do you have the same problem - and how do you handle it?

Just delete them like you'd normally delete a file on your PC.

And no, I don't have the same problem with them. As I've said, the game always stored savegames and replay files together ever since the CD Version :)
When you load a aoe2record file in the game, you see a replay of the game you played.

so - is there no way - to deactivate making replays?

Not entirely but you can significantly reduce the amount of replays the game creates. If you play a non-campaign game vs the AI, untick the "Record Game" option. The game will still make a replay called rec.aoe2record but it overwrites it everytime you start a new game.

I think for campaign games you can also disable the option to make replay files but I don't remember where
