Battering Ram
. I can see it works by it self.
So whats the point of putting 6 soldiers into a battering ram?

It increases it's movement speed and attack speed (or damage forget which).

(also soldiers inside are shielded from attack, especially ranged fire from archers, castles and towers)

1) What Quintem said;

2) It has been invented in Age of Kings, several years before devs added siege towers.

6 soldiers, however, is the capacity of the siege ram. The battering ram (Castle Age) only carries 4 men.

They recently changed it to 6 from 4. (Movement speed was also increased from .5 to .6)

Also putting grunts inside rams creates some sorts of tower dmg absorption and escort army for rams.

Even if the speed and attack boost not present, having some units inside who can deny enemy attacks on ram (villagers have good dmg output against it) is really viable in some situations.

Had a guy use a seige tower to move teutonic knights recently, increases the speed of unit that move slower than the seige weapon.

Oh, I see. Well, I personally don't like this change. Even if a Cuman player is not going to use those in Feudal Age at mid-high Elo, it could happen at very low Elo and I just don't think it's a good idea, 4 slots were fine for a Castle Age unit (even if underused). Capped and siege ram should have 7 and 8 then. They would become buses, not rams. 11

Many infantry units are weak to archers. Putting infantry in a ram can protect them from arrows. It also makes the ram move faster and do more damage.
