So thats a no?
For example, academy units destroy cavalry in AOE1
But now that there's better pathfinding it's a lot easier to just not fight academy units since your cavalry will actually move together.
But raiding is at least a bit harder since villagers can garrison!
Horse archers are super strong later game though.
Yamato feel super strong
Havent tried chariots, but I heard they are even more opressive
PS: Tried Chariots with hittites, LOL what a joke of a game, this game has zero balance with current mechanics/flow
No need to boom, you can simply spam Archer Chariots and win.
Way to much mobility/damage, the damage you deal to their eco with a couple of then is crippling/deadly
The AoE2 version defaults to 200 pop but didn't do too much else to tweak the balance. If the Tool Rush is indeed as weak as it seems it might be, then yeah, why not boom to late game and spam out Cav and HHAs? Or massed Chariots etc.
If you want to see how the game was originally 'balanced', try it on 50 pop. It forces some interesting trade offs and techs like Logistics actually make sense. ;)
Thank you for your feedback, hope it makes the game more interresting

And AOE 1 is less of a siege, so you are less likely to grind out all the gold.
