Let the Mongols build yurts instead of houses
It just makes sense. It's only an aesthetic change and I think it's a worthwhile one. Please?

Yes why were we given nice cute little yurts for them to be taken back again?? We no longer have the gift! :steamsad:

Mongol houses become Yurts only makes sense in the Dark and Feudal Age. It doesn't make sense for them to live in Yurts at Castle Age, and it sure doesn't make sense at Imperial Age.

Even in the castle age there is the run down section of town, the Skid Row.

I think it makes perfect sense. It is THE thing for the mongols. What we have is appropriate for Yuan China and nothing else Mongol. The theme must be upheld.

At the beginning of Genghis Khan's life the Mongols lived in Yurts, but by the end of Genghis Khan's life they had already conquered China, it makes no sense for them to use only Yurts in all ages.

Besides, visually you're asking the house not to change its appearance once between Dark Age and Imperial Age, there's no other civilization that comes anywhere near that. The existing Yurts would serve as the different skins for houses of an age or two, but there are not enough skins and no difference enough between them for all ages.

Besides, it would be the only civilization to have a different architecture already in the Dark Age. Needless to say, it doesn't make sense for dark age's house to become a Yurt in Feudal. It's cool but it doesn't make sense, not historically (Imperial at least) or from the point of view of the visual design of AOE II.

Not exactly purely aesthetic. The yurts looks WAY smaller than a 2x2 building, hence making walling much harder. There have been many times where I thought my house wall had a hole when it didn't and vice versa. So not exactly pure aesthetic.

If they actually make the yurts larger and visually similar in size to other houses, I think yurts would be good :) Have you seen the difference in size between aztec houses and yurts? The former almost looks like a BLACKSMITH while the latter looks like a palisade wall xD

There are multiple yurt sprites and some are very large.

I have created a large mod that gives all the civs unique unit skins, I have also altered a few buildings. Giving the Mongols Yurts is one of them. See my mod Historical Accuracy (CK) if you are interested

I uploaded it to the mod page a few minutes ago. Browse mods, and select latest updated. Download both parts.

Just enter the game, go to Mods, then select Browse Mods. Then at the top, select Latest Updated. Then you will see it. Or go onto the internet, google AoE2 DE mods then you navigate to Browse Mods and follow the same steps.
