Any similar games?
I'm looking for a multiplayer game similar to this, where I can chill out playing single player stuff or multiplayer games.

First game today, I got a leaver. I am not going to be playing only to people leaving my games, which is stupid and tiring. Also I don't have the time, as had only 1 hour today and it was wasted.

So any games I could play that are similar to this, but better? Fantasy or medieval setting would be nice.

UPDATE: I know Microsoft games, and I don't want to play in them. If AOE2 which is their flagship has that many problems, then other game probably too. I also don't want to play Activision (Blizzard) games, as I deinstalled them due to toxicity...

Maybe Age of Mythology if you prefer fantasy or Rise of Nations that is very similar to this game but goes from stone age to information age.
There is also a Star Wars game "Galactic Battlegrounds" that was made using the very same engine from AoE 2.

Thank you for the picks :)

Age of Mythology I already played the campaigns, but maybe :D

"Galactic Battlegrounds" I know and like, so maybe this.

But the main problem for me are leavers. All 3 games belong to the Microsoft, and I doubt they have double standards and implemented there a double queue like Start

I would go to SC2, but the environment became so toxic, that I deinstalled it. Guess after Activision took over they don't really care about toxicity anymore...

It has aged a bit, but Empire Earth is still a legendary game.

There's also American Conquest, but it will seem very different to AoE despite the superficial similarities.

I would actually recommend checking out AoE 4. It is multiplayer-oriented, but who knows it might be what you are looking for. All AoE titles are significantly different from each other.

Battle for Middle Earth is freeware. I recommend the first one because it has a pretty unique style for an RTS and its probably the most easy to get into RTS out there. Older game though so your best bet is interacting with the little community it has or getting friends involved for multiplayer. The AI opponent is satisfactory enough that you can play against it and have fun assuming you're not being a total sweat about it.

0AD and Widelands are other possible free alternatives from a similar sort of setting in RTS.

It's available on Gog dot com and works on a modern PC

I played it, and loved the campaign, but it's not something that would get me to play again - only 2 sides and the good guys have much stronger units :p

AOE4 has the same problems as AOE2, which is devs don't really care to implement double queue, so the people who want to play without leavers can do so. I remember the golden days of SC2, and I remember that back then devs were playing the games they were developing...

I just looked at Empire Earth, but it wasn't what I was looking for. I will check American Conquest.

Thank you guys for the ideas, for now I checked some old games like Settlers 3 and 4, and I have to say it was fun, but the experience was extremely repetitive. Same with Anno 1602.

I went to WC3 to play some tower, but the community is toxic, so eh :P

Do you have more ideas? :)

You sure you're thinking of the right one? BFME has 4 factions (Gondor, Rohan, Mordor, Isengard).
But fair if you only liked the campaign. I thought the multiplayer concept of the first game was fantastic and I'm surprised there wasn't a spiritual successor with that format. Unless there was and it flopped.

Hmm, can you give me a link? I may not think about the same game. Were you able to build heroes from something similar to the town center?

0 AD is a free, open source variant of this games core concepts that combines some elements of Age of Empires with a few from Rise of Nations and Empire Earth.

It's pretty good but a bit more hardcore in terms of complexity.

You were. I thought you were honestly pretty spot on with the exception of there just being two factions. Its what you get when you look up "Battle For Middle Earth 1", you might have just been confused by the campaign which as I recall is a simply good side of bad side. Where as skirmish and online actually have the 4 factions.

Look up "the 3rd age battle for middle earth" for the free version I'm talking about. You might have to dig through the website a little bit for the actual downloads because its a whole community thing, but yeah.
